The sandals are nice but after 2 weeks of wear the soles are coming apart. When I say I recommend this product I am hoping Xero will make good on them. Otherwise they are nice. I bought them for a friend and he was able to wear a size smaller than usual, 15 rather than 16. The straps are quite adjustable.

I recently converted to "zero lift" shoes (Altra Lone Peaks) for upcoming Appalachian Trail thru-hike. I spent a considerable amount of time looking for lightweight, dependable campsites (purposefully staying away from the most common heavy Crocs). I decided on Xero Z-Trail sandals primarily for their weight, very compact storage,....and resemblance to other "Z Strap" sport sandals I like (Tevas, Chaos, etc). These sandals are incredibly light, and appear very-well engineered (i.e. constructed). One surprise? Their absolute comfort right out of the bag! No break in needed; in all fairness however, I have already been in "zero lift" shoes for the past two months! Once I am on the trail, I promised Steven Sasheen (Xero's co-owner, with his wife Lena), to do a better "on trail" review. To this point.....I have to give these Z-Trails "five stars"!
Cons:
- delay in receiving product

I received a pair recently and just went on my first trail run. I only ran 4 miles but only after 2 miles my left foot toes were hanging over the front and they got raw. I realized I hadn't lased the foot properly. After readjusting, the last 2 miles were heavenly, no more foot slippage. The next day I ran 6 miles and again it was heavenly. I already run in zerodrop shoes but l love the freedom these running sandals give. They are so light, they feel like I'm running barefoot but with protection on the bottom of my feet. Love these running sandals and would recommend them to anyone who wants the barefoot running experience but with protection under the foot.

My shoes were too small. The customer care rep was super friendly explaining the return and exchange options for the next larger size. I appreciate the order and back-order update emails.

About two years ago I started wearing Xero sandals in order to change my stride in hiking(a 6mm hirachi Xero). Xero's are about feeling the earth and avoiding overstriding and heel striking. As a result my 60 year old legs are stronger and in particular my knees are healthier; my strike is soft and fluid with little shock. So, these Sandals are light, 10mm soles which actually absorb a fair amount of shock; still, stay forward and stride as if you are skating or xc skiing. That way you get the best experience. These Sandals easily adjust according to need, so if your foot is slipping, just tighten. The whole Xero thing is cool, just got a pair of closed toe Xeros!!! Walk Forever!!!

Just back from the backcountry in Grand Canyon. Great sandals, superlight, low bulk, flexible. Used as a camp shoe and for day hikes, primarily in creeks and washes.Very comfortable and they protected the sole of my feet. The soles were not slippery on wet rocks. Only issue, probably unavoidable, is the foot slipping forward in the sandal if you have some mud on the sole of your feet or just dirt and perspiration. You can easily crush your toes against the rocks.
Fully recommend these sandals. Aero25
