Boot performs very well on 8 - 12 mile hikes through the Georgia mountains. Very little initial break-in required, nice toe space for D width size without looking oversized for width, great ankle support over uneven terrain of rocks-boulders and tree roots, good support from preventing forward movement of feet on downhill trails, and kept water out on one rain day hike. Overall, I would recommend this boots for day hikes of 5 to 15 miles. May work well for longer back packing trips, just have not used for that purpose.
