For journeying into the backcountry with self-inflating support, our ProLite Plus is a camp favorite. The 1.5-inch (3.8 cm) pad boasts a 3.2 R-value for added warmth in the backcountry. The diagonal-cut foam creates a lighter mattress without sacrificing warmth. Premium materials and foam provide legendary Therm-a-Rest comfort and support. The versatile self-inflating pad features the high-performance WingLock valve, which has three-times the airflow rate of the classic valve thanks to a larger opening and one-way inflation. Like all Therm-a-Rest pads, the ProLite Plus is made in market to ensure quality and minimize environmental impact. The pad includes a compact stuff sack.

I have an older version of a Thermarest pad. The new Thermarest Prolite is far superior for comfort. My sleeping bag stayed in place all night and I never felt the hard ground, sticks and rocks through me pad. I have not tried the pad while sleeping in snow yet, but expect the insulation to be far warmer than my old pad.
The pad works great for my needs. It's small enough to carry while backpacking yet comfortable enough to help provide a good night's rest at the end of the day.
There's only one model Therma-a-rest makes that is better. If you don't get out as often as you like, it's hard to justify that price. This is a great pad with a good price. What more could you ask for?

I did a lot of searching and trying out of sleeping pads before deciding on this Prolite Plus. After searching, the Prolite Plus was the perfect balance of price, comfort, and weight for me. I especially like the fact you can adjust the comfort level by adjusting the amount of air in the chamber, perfect for backpacking where you may be more or less sore depending on the night.... Overall I'm pleased with this pad. It is light and packs small and pretty comfortable. I need to get used to the tapered shape compared to my full cut pad as my legs and feet would come off the pad as I slept. Minor adjustment though.
Prolites are manufactured with some compressible foam on the inside. If you open the valve, the foam will decompress and self inflate the pad to a point. You will need to inflate beyond that in order to get a more rigid shape. The pad can be inflated and deflated hundreds, probably thousands of times.
