I gave this a con for poor temperature control, but hey, its a Trangia, you dont get a Trangia thinking its got the ease of a gas stove. You get it for weight and fail-proof simplicity.
Superlight + easy to use.
I use pot and pan with my gas set up when i need to, or in the snowy hut fires.
Simple, cheap, so worth it.
The setup must have a full wind shield around it for the stove to burn effectively
The volume of the pot is just good for hot drinks or freeze dried
The pot is narrow for the flame and comes round the side of the pot
Useable as is as a set but must have a wrap around windscreen

I spent months building alcohol stoves from patterns and different materials. They worked well but the Trangia is far superior. I would recommend anyone thinking about making your own to just spend the money you will not be sorry.

I bought this to replace an identical item that got lost. This stove/cook system has worked very well for me as a solo camper/backpacker for years, even in colder temperatures. I use it primarily to boil water for hot cereal and for rehydration of dinners; I have not used and would not use the frying pan/lid for cooking. The diameter of the burner is about 3 inches with the windscreen slightly bigger. Simmering time will depend on the amount of fuel you put in, but you could probably get a good 10 to 15 minutes with a full burner.
