Product Info for Vargo Titanium Triad XE

The titanium Triad XE was designed with ease of use in mind. The stove burns either alcohol or fuel tabs. Alcohol is used by filling the center container and then placing a few drops between the inner and outer container. Light the outer drops of alcohol and the stove primes immediately (or) if alcohol is unavailable, remove the inner container for the perfect fuel tab stove. Characteristics of burning alcohol in the XE include intense heat during the priming stage and simmering heat once primed.Once primed the stove burns slow and uses very little alcohol which is great for simmering noodles but not so great for simply boiling water.The stove is truly dual-fuel and understanding which fuel to use for the meal you are preparing or the weather conditions you encounter will make using the stove more satisfying.

This stove burns out before you can boil 500 cc water at room temperature. If you must use alcohol, go another route. Evernew stove burns longer and boils the 500 cc water in 5 minutes. May be OK with Esbit fuel.

The shirt pocket stove

A wind screen is a must with this stove(hiding behind rocks won't cut it),besides they roll up like a cigar.Whether you're using alcohol or solid fuel this stove performs as advertised.Just remember to drain all unused fuel out of it and cool down before you go folding it up and putting it in your pocket.

Wouldn't buy

I bought one of these this year and returned it within a day. To use it as an alcohol stove you have to pull apart the alcohol container which is extremely difficult to do. Even if you lightly squeeze the top and bottom together they still somehow get 'fused' together and won't come apart easily.
