Look, there's no way around this fact: they are expensive. But they are probably the finest-made footwear I own. Maybe the finest-made thing I own. Outstanding quality, felt great and true to size except narrow in the toe area and could not cinch the boot tight enough around my very skinny ankle, sent back.
..these boots, like others have said require no breaking in. For a relatively heavy boot (2+ lbs./boot) they are a dream to walk on, and almost seem to propel themselves from heel plant to toe lift. I was really drawn to the appearance of these boots. I like the welted sole and feel the uppers will outlive me. I did have a blister develop on my small toe at the 2 mi mark of a 10 mi hike.
