The Edelrid Mega Jul Sport Belay Device is the sport climbing version of the award-winning Mega Jul designed with a specific geometry for sport climbing for slicker belaying, including with thicker ropes.

I use this in the gym now, and I l REALLY love it. It has a great glide and it locks perfectly. It makes me and my climbers feel secure when belaying, especially with people heavier than me. I like that it is lightweight and minimal as well.

I really wanted to like this device. I even bought two of them. I purchased this because it is an active locking device and because it allows for two ropes and you can rappel with it. It is both of those things but the belay performance is dismal. It wants to catch as you are paying out slack for clips and wants to catch as you are lowering your partner. So, although it do... After using tubers for a couple decades, I thought it was time to check out one of the newer devices, to give my brake hand a break when belaying someone working a route.
