Ordered these in my regular shoe size (...been lucky doing that with my hiking boots so far) and they did fit with just a light pair of Hiking Socks on but with a Expedition Wool sock over an under sock they got tight real quick so I returned them for one (whole) size larger and everything fits in there as it should...even with Gel insert that put arch support exactly where it ... I bought these boots as an alternative to renting for an Alpine Skills class in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. They worked great. My feet stayed dry and warm for all 3 days of the course including our summit of Mt. Washington where temps with windchill were down in the -20s.
