Between 5'5" and 5'11" 120 cm long poles are advised, while 6'0"+ call for 130 cm poles. Ultimately, the heights vary between individuals; in order to be sure of the right fit, make sure the handles come up to about wait level.

Ultimately you 'd like to have a pole length where your arm is parallel to the ground when you're holding the handle. At 5' 11" he will likely need a 130 cm.

Optimal height will be a configuration where your arms are parallel to the ground when you hold the pole. Based on your height, it sounds like a 110 cm pole would be best.
