This tarp comes in the colors shown on the product page with blue on one side and white on the other side.

Mine has a loop of cloth tape attached about 6 in in from each end. It is not clear to me how that is intended to be used when using trekking poles. Could you enlighten me please?

The cloth tapes are for pulling the cloth tight over the poles.

A tarp dodger is a tarp that attaches to the ends of the tent to seal the rain and other harsh weather out of the tent. If both ends need to be sealed, two would need to be purchased.

For sun shelter can it be set up with the cloud side facing up, which will also reduce uv being reflected within shaded/protected area? Obviously it can, just asking if that is the actual intent of the design and it is not going to degrade the material.

Yes, this tarp is designed to be used as shelter in all weather conditions. You should get many years of good use.
