Bought for the lower portions of my Everest Base Camp trek. So comfortable out of the box I wore all the way.
A little cold on the morning climbs but that is to be expected. What works for one may not work for another but they were perfect for me. 100 percent recommend.

Update from after the JMT trek. After training I discovered that I needed to go up one 1/2 size to 8.5 men’s as my toes were hitting on the descents. Make sure you have 3/4” between the end of your toes to the shoe. I hiked about 10-12 miles a day totalling 130 miles and 7 passes on the JMT. These Boots were warm, water proof and very comfortable. No blisters, no other pain. I definitely plan to use them again for my next Sierra trip.
Pros:
Wide toe box with good cushion
Cons:
NONE
Best Used for:
hiking and backpacking
Would recommend: Yes

Training for JMT through hike. I originally got talked into $250 Vasque boots and after 20 training miles I had pain on my toes and blisters on my heels. Even aftermachine stretching the leather, I still couldn’t tolerate them. Bought these NeoShell Altra boots and they worked great out of the box. I tried inserts, but promptly took them out and put the stock ones back in. I’ve been training for 2 months in these and have done some steep rugged trails with class 2 rock scrambling in wet terrain. My feet were comfy and dry. No blisters, no rub on my pinky toes. So happy with this pair that I bought another pair to use on the trip. My first pair will be pretty beat up by August.
Pros:
Wide, waterproof, comfortable
Cons:
NONE
Best Used for:
hiking and adventuring

Instant comfort, wide toe box for wide or bunion-infested feet, soft but sturdy for any terrain. Great for walking, running, or walking. True to size. I wear the mid height for long distance backpacking to with wobbly ankles.
