I don't know what it is with these sleeping pad companies but they all seem to be of the same mind set. They appear to believe that people are built like big bean poles - "an inch across so we can fit 20 of them on a matt". They have got it all wrong. I'm not a large guy, only 5foot 3inch and a bit while acting an ape and hanging from a tree, but my shoulders about overlap this matt and it's really tough keeping my arms from flopping over the edge. Mats like this are so narrow you just need to twitch and you come off. One of the reasons for the purchase was to keep my sleeping bag off the ground in really damp weather where small pools of water collect on the ground sheet. This matt is not wide enough to do this. WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE MATTS A 4 OR 5 INCHES WIDER? Would that be too hard?
