Great pad for almost every adventure.

by Jordan, Gear Expert from UT, United States Written on July 12, 2019
The Big Agnes Q-Core SLX insulated pad is an extremely light and comfortable pad to sleep on in any condition. At 3.5" thick you 'won't be worried about the ground beneath you, and because the pad is insulated it will help keep you warm in 30+ degree temperatures. Generally, I use the Therm-A-Rest Neo Air X-Lite and 'didn't feel a difference in warmth with the Q-Core SLX.

In testing out this pad, I was very happy with its performance. The coldest it got while I was using this was around 35 degrees, and I 'didn't feel any cold coming up through the pad. Paired with a Big Agnes sleeping bag, I was comfortable and had some great sleeps in the backcountry. I have also tested this pad without a Big Agnes sleeping bag, and I will say the 20"" width felt a bit too narrow without the pad sleeve on Big 'Agnes' sleeping bags. I would recommend the 25"" wide pad for use without one of their sleeping bags.

Overall this pad has most every feature you would want in a sleeping pad, 'it's comfortable, very easy to inflate (especially if you use the Big Agnes Pumphouse), warmth, durability, and very packable. I would recommend this pad to anyone looking to add comfort or drop base weight while backpacking in the spring, summer, or fall.

Best sleeping pad I've had. Light weight and lots of cushion, even as a side sleeper.

Solid Sleeping Pad

by DovidBjorn, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on February 21, 2020
This sleeping pad gets the job done. I bought the long wide model and it comfortable and gives me plenty of room while still being lightweight and packable.
I pair it with my Big Agnes Sleeping bag with their sleep system and it works like a champ. I had it down to 20 degrees the other day and I was cozy all night. Keep in mind I used an appropriate sleeping with it.

Big Agnes Q Core SLX Sleeping Pad

by Travis, from WI, United States Written on July 16, 2019
I have used it 2 times so far. Was comfortable with 2 people sleeping on it. Requires some air adjustment depending on what you like but that is easily done. I have had no problems with air leaking throughout the night and it isn't noisy when moving around. I also bought the "dry sack" air pump bag which does work but takes about five minutes to inflate the whole mattress. I would recommend the XL bag, would save some time.
Pros:
  • Comfortable
Cons:
  • material is thin

Very comfortable but unreliable

by Winderong, from NSW, Australia Written on May 8, 2019
The mat is very comfortable, warm and light, but I have never gone out for longer than 3 days without the seams starting to leak. It's never a puncture, just a manufacturing fault. It's hard to find leaks when you're remote, and the "warm and dry" requirement for using the patches is not easy to meet in the places I'm going. It's getting to the point where I'm out of patches and just can't risk depending on it. Of course, I may just have a bad mat, but I'll see how the response from CampSaver goes and post an update here.
Pros:
  • Warm, light, and very comfortable
Cons:
  • Leaky seams
Best Used for:
  • Not dependable

Comfortable

by Melissa Hickman, Verified Owner from AK, United States Written on June 25, 2018
This Sleeping pad is very comfortable. It is very compact and light weight which will make it great for backpacking. I have not used it in the cold yet so I am not sure if it will keep me warm. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Big Agnes Q Core XLS Slleping Pad Rocks!!

by Dale, from CO, United States Written on June 18, 2018
Best combination of design, comfort and weight. Really like this new pad. great comfort in the Wide / Long version. Keeps me off the ground all night. Keeps me in the center of my pad, so I'm not falling off in the middle of the night. So far, so good. Will update once I have the chance to see how things wear over time. At this point, very pleased. Am 6 feet, 200#; works great!!

Excellent for Side Sleepers

by Hawk, from ME, United States Written on March 5, 2018
I sorted through a number of sleeping pads without being able to find what I wanted. Some were too heavy. Some were too small. Some were too noisy. Some didn’t have enough ground clearance for me to sleep comfortably on my side. When I found the QCore SLX, I was amazed at how it checked all the boxes. It’s very light (just more than a pound for the wide version that I bought). It has plenty of width, but it still packs up small (just a little bigger than a Nalgene). It doesn’t have the crinkling noise so often associated with the Therm-A-Rest NeoAir pads. Best of all, it has more than 3” of lift so that I don’t end up on the ground in the morning. I anticipate this being my go to backpacking sleeping pad for many years to come. However, it can be difficult to blow up, so I definitely recommend using the Pumphouse Ultra with it. I found it took about 6 pumps so blow up the wide version. Happy trails!
Pros:
  • Light
  • Lots of Cushion
  • Packs Up Small
  • Not Noisy
Cons:
  • Hard to Inflate
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking

Best sleeping pad ever

by Lfabianth, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on February 11, 2018
I was surprised when I received because was so small and so light, and light and small in a pad does not sounds good, but it is in this case.
It is great, take me less than 2 minutes to blow it and have it perfect, we love the valve because make it so easy, you do not need to block it with your fingers and breathe and blow and block and repeat it again.
When we put inside the sleeping bag, was almost perfect, but again, the valve solve it so easy.
Blocks the temperature of your floor inmediately and you are ready to sleep, is like sleep in your bed, and all of us know that in the middle of the mountain for all your activity you need to rest well and with the q core slx you can do it easily.
Pros:
  • size, light, valve
Cons:
  • the container bag does not like durable
Best Used for:
  • camping, backpacking

Big Agnes Q-core SLX Air Mattress

by oldtimer, from WA, United States Written on September 22, 2017
First trip out with an insulated air mattress ever, after years of sleeping on foam pads.

Simply put, the best night's sleep I have had in years while backpacking. Now in my 67th year of packing into the woods and mountains, I needed a pad with more cushioning than even a 2"-thick foam pad can provide. After researching every insulated air mattress available, I decided on the Big Agnes Q-core SLX because it seemed a good compromise considering insulating ability, durability, weight, and price.

The best price to be found was, of course, at CampSaver. The Free Shipping was a bonus, and the speed of delivery meant that I got to uset he mattress on my last trip.

I slept warm and my senior bones and body have never felt better. Next trip will be a test as temperatues up high are dropping into the mid-twenties at night. I do expect this mattress to keep me warm and comfortable as it is rated to 15-degrees.
Pros:
  • Comfort, weight, durability, Price
Cons:
  • Price of pump bag
Best Used for:
  • Resting comfortably

Plush comfort

by Dave, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on September 11, 2017
Very light for the comfort it provides. Nice thick plush padding. I'm a side sleeper and the pad provides plenty of cushioning. Still too warm to verify the insulation qualities. Easy to fill and deflate. Rolls up to a compact shape so takes up little room in my pack.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • compact
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking or general camping

Great!

by Jeffrey H., Written on August 7, 2017
I just took this to Iceland (July-August) and it was fantastic. Easy, comfortable, warm. We didn't get much rain but it seems it would do well even if it got a little wet.
