I like to use poles no matter when I hike, since it adds to the workout. These poles are very sturdy and comfortable.

My wife and I both have the Black Diamond Trail Shock poles. After having struggled with the Leki adjustment system, the Black Diamond flick locks are a welcome, and effeicient, change. The poles are simple, lightweight, and a joy to use. For snowshoeing we really like the 3/4 powder baskets.

Haven't got the chance to really use it yet. I am going to use it for trekking and climbing. CampSaver is absolutely reliable.

I like the trail back pole a LOT better.
the trail back shock are a too flexible for someone 6'1 180lba using 125cm setting; I don't know why.
their grip is more comfortable then the trail back grip, but it depends on whether you like rubber or foam.
I prefer the rubber.
the wrist strap are a >nightmare

I purchased these from CampSaver in early Jan 2010 (great price!) after trying out a pair of Leki poles from a local store and reading a lot of reviews. Did not like locking feature on Leki's, especially in cold weather. The Black Diamond poles are great and help me as much or even more going up than going down. They have increased my endurance in going up steep, rocky trails where boulder hopp

We hiked to the Palisade Glacier so we ran into some pretty harsh rocky hiking... These poles held up beautifully, no issues what-so-ever! It saved my hide on a few occasions as well when I really needed that balance from an unexpected slip or two, great construction and very light, Highly Recommend

I have the regular version of these (not compact) and got the compact for my girlfriend for Christmas. I love mine and I know she'll love these. These are a must have for backpackers - it'll make your trip so much more enjoyable. They are great not only on the trail with a full load but a lifesaver for crossing streams (balance) and digging in to lift you and your load up and down steep incline

I had never used treking poles before but once you get the rhythm down, they are great! They are lightweight, adsorb shock, easy to adjust, and take that extra bit of stress off the knees. Another advantage is maintaining balance in 'rocky' situations. I like 'um.
