I purchased an Alpini Hoody Anorak jacket last year and quickly came to love it. At first I thought the Perfect Quantum 15 shell would not be very durable or that the down would be poking through the material but this has not been the case. Recently I was walking in the woods on a rocky, icy trail and tripped on a rock. I hit the ground pretty hard and my first thought was, did I break any bones since my elbows hit the ground pretty hard. My elbows really hurt but to my real suppose was that the material of the Anorak showed no evidence of my hard impact with the ground. This is one very warm jacket too. The 800 fill down fill has kept me warm in subfreezing weather with howling winds. The hood is awesome too with generous down filling. When you first try it on the hood does seem a little big but there is a Velcro tab on the back that can cinch it up a bit. The front zip comes right up to your chin and the drawstring around the hood make for a nice draft free fit. The Perfect Quantum also does a good job shedding water and the hydrophobic down also does a great job maintaining the insulating qualities of the jacket. I haven't really used the side zips for venting but they do help when you are trying to slide the Anorak over your head in a crowded space. The kangaroo pocket is also nice too. I liked this jacket so much that I bought a second one! Can't recommend this jacket enough!

The anorak that I purchased is surprisingly warm, even when the temperature drops below freezing. Even the pockets are warm.
The zipper works very well and the elastic waistband actually works very well. A great product!

I wish I was more flexible about these things...I've never worn an Anorak, and thought this would be a great time to try one out. I really like the Quality of Brooks Range jackets, and the price was just too good to pass up. The fit and warmth of the jacket were fine; so what's wrong with this picture? I just didn't like the "pull-over" concept for the way I was going to use the jacket. I'm a suburban guy who wanted a coat for cold weather walking, and spectator sports, but it had to be something I could easily shed if conditions changed. This didn't prove to be that easy to take on and off, particularly if seated on bleachers at an outdoor hockey game! So, as good as it is, I chose to go another direction. My "loss" can be your gain.
