I purchased the CamelBak UV water purifier and quickly learned that what I also needed was a pre-filter to keep all the floaties out of my water. Conveniently, Camelbak came out with this pre-filter that fits nicely on their UV water bottle, but also fits well on a nalgene bottle. The filter does exactly what it claims to do, keeps larger sediment out of your water. I have used it on numerous oc

Nice little spatula that I have used for years now. Folds up nicely and yet doesn't collapse on you when you are flipping pancakes or cooking sausage. It has withstood years of use and washes up really well. Great little spatula!

Purchased this hat to backpack in southern Utah. Since all my buddies had purchased sun hats, I decided it was my turn to do the same. I wanted a hat that I could tuck away the sunshade when not using and still look like a nice "ball cap" hat. I will say that I purchased the chalk stone color hat and all my friends said I looked like a rebel soldier on Endor from Return of the Jedi. I didn't t

I purchased this pad last year January mainly to use as an added insulation layer for winter camping. This pad is incredibly lightweight and is quite comfortable for a non-inflatable mattress. I have never slept on it overnight directly as I prefer my Big Agnes blow-up over this.
I do love it as an extra pad to sleep on during my winter camps with scouts. I noticed quite a difference one winte

My wife gave this to me for father's day a couple of years back and while I initially really liked it, it failed after a couple months of light use. What I did like about it was that it was small and light, yet sturdy and could fit in my pocket without being obtrusive. I sharpened the knife up a bit and most of the tools were useful. However, it is a small tool set and should be used for very s

This has been a great little lantern I picked up a couple of years ago. It has great light output for being so small and the batteries do last quite a long time.
My favorite feature of the lantern is the ability to hang it on the smallest tent loop. The two hang loops are a fantastic design and we love hanging it up in the tent to play card games or to read when we go camping/backpacking.

I have had this pad for about a year now I thought I would post my thoughts regarding it. The pad is the most comfortable backpacking pads I have ever slept on in the backcountry. I no longer look for a perfectly smooth camping site as I know my pad will absorb any bumps from rocks or tree roots.
The pros for this mattress: I am a side sleeper and love that I can now sleep on my side as it inf

I purchased this tarp (12x12) for a trip to Olympic National Park a year ago in April. The tarp performed exceptionally well.
The tarp itself is quite lightweight, yet very strong and each grommet is reinforced better than any tarp I have used in the past. Having used it in strong winds, heavy rains and glaring sunshine it hasn't shown any wear or tear yet. Already it has lasted longer than mo

I recently purchased these shoes for a backpacking trip down Coyote Gulch near Escalante Utah. I wanted a shoe that would give me foot support while carrying a backpack as well as being able to dry quickly, drain water well and keep rocks out as I was mostly hiking in ankle deep water. These shoes satisfied all of these requirements and I am glad I purchased them for the trip. They gripped quit

I have had the Bugaboo backpacker set for several years now (I have the model before this one) and have used it on numerous occasions over the years. I am glad that they have upgraded the carrying case and no longer use velcro to secure everything together. The velcro system never worked to begin with and was a very poor design feature.
