Transform yourself into a bear

Written on Mar 29, 2018

If you live somewhere where it is consistently cold and you lounge around more than you move around get this jacket right now.
This is an epic casual cabin chiller jacket. When you get off the slopes and get home, throw is bad boy on and drink some hot coco and you are about as close to being a bear in hibernation as a human can get.

This jacket has an awesome look, the double pile fleece makes people just want to touch you because you look so warm and cuddly.
The collar on this is one of my absolute favorite things. I don't know why so many outdoor companies get this point wrong, but Rab nailed it with this fleece. The collar has a nice snug fit where it hugs your neck in warm goodness. I find most other fleeces have a loose, wide collar with no way to adjust it. What is the point in a wide collar that provides minimal insulation when not in close contact with your skin? I'll never figure that one out.
The collar sits nice and high getting right to your jaw line and it stops perfectly.

These jacket is not very wind proof, I know they say it has an inner liner that is suppose to be, but make no mistake wind cuts through this pretty easily. Even if it didn't the fact that the liner is on the inside means that the wind would steal all the thermal heat you stored in the nice double pile and sweep it away leaving you with not much warmth. Put a nice softshell/windbreaker over this and you will be absolutely toasty, try to do much more than some brisk walking and you will

Smart looking Fleece

Written on Mar 29, 2018

This is a good looking piece. More of a casual wear piece, not very technical.
I am 6ft 150lbs, broad shoulders, longer torso at 19"

The small fits well in the arms and torso/chest, but the length is a little to short for my liking, stops right above the belt line, overall nice trim fit.
The medium has a nice length extending to the top of my zipper, but the chest and torso immediately become frumpy and boxy fitting, similar to patagonia's new cuts. Not trim or athletic looking at all, but okay for casual wear or if you prefer the baggy look. Not for me though as you loose the insulation factor.

The feel of this fleece is also unique, blanket like. very light, I'm assuming it would be warm I only tried it on inside.
It does not feel very tightly woven so pilling may become an issue quickly, but this is only speculation from feeling it and trying it on.

Great piece, just know what your intended purpose is for it.

Amazing shoe, small improvements can be made

Written on Mar 29, 2018

I rarely write reviews, but the Lems Boulder Boot deserves one.
I walk barefoot whenever I am not at work or not backpacking. The Lems boulder boots are on my feet for the times I must wear shoes.

I spent a long time researching different shoes and I think these are one of the best.
The sole is thick enough to protect your feet from really sharp rocks with a loaded pack, yet thin enough to give you good ground feel.
They are bendable enough that you can flex your foot and grab with your toes, although you aren't going to get a full on monkey grip like you can with thin hurraches or simple bare feet, but hey you also wouldn't be able to walk on sharp shale with a loaded pack in bare feet. Right tool for the right job.

These work great on and off the mountain, I love their rugged yet refined style and there is enough color combos to satisfy everyone, if not you are too picky. The toe box is massive and it allows your toes to really spread out, my feet/toes never hurt after walking in these all day. Never cramped.

Pros:
-Lightweight
-Packable
-Stylish
-Very wide toe box

Cons:
- Durability
-Cotton lining
-Price

If the cons could be addressed I would give these shoes 5 stars day and night, but I just can't.

First off the sole is an air injected rubber which makes for a nice soft sole, but it also means it wears out quite fast.
I stomped around Joshua tree and Yosemite in these climbing on all the rough granite and the tread on these got eaten up.
With out th
