Bought this for backpacking because it is supposed be a backpacking tent but it's just to heavy all though it is a great tent and easy to set up would be great for a weekend camping trip but just to much weight for my personal taste

We've moved on from the Apex series, not rugged enough for constant use by our boys. The Mt Pass 2XTE is bigger and we req. 2 doors so there is no climbing over someone to get in/out.

Bought 20 of these for the Scout Troop after researching a lot, wanted soothing to hold up to abuse. They have more or less, especially when set up right. After a few years, I just bought my own so I don't risk getting a fart or puke tent from their stash.

My husband and I went to Colorado for a week and camped off several 4 wheel drive trails in the mountains from 11000 to 14000 feet all week. We experienced heavy squals usually not lasting more than an hour or 2 and 1 in particular had golf ball sized hail and this tent held up great, "like fort knox". We had our to small dogs with us and there is plenty of room although for the extra pound I would get the 3 person version. The vestabules are huge and I cooked several dinners and coffee in the morning with all my gear stored on my side and his gear stored on his plenty of room. The weight of the tent seems heavy when you get it but when you split the wheight up it is not bad at all great for backpacking, it folds up small and has a seperate ditty sack for the fly it is great stuffs very easy. The venting power is amazing, we experienced 40 degree nights sometimes dipping colder and warm afternoons with abosolutly no condensation in the tent, we were dry as a bone, even when you unzip the bottom of the vestabule for high low venting the rain doesn't really get into the vestabule to my surprise. The quality of this tent is unmatched from any tent we have owned. We highly recommend this tent for a couple backpacking unless in order to split the weight, car camping, or base camping. One person can set this tent up in under 10 mins easy, in the rain you just x out your tent poles through the fly over them and velcrow the to the poles and erect the fly then take your tent and clip ...

Now I'm living in the tent. And I had 2 problems... water inside when rains, filter by the roof vents. And today a tarp pole broke, so I'm sleeping very uncomfortable.
