Sweet Pack
This is now my go-to pack for loads up to 35 pounds. It is light, comfortable and has nice features. I usually carry Osprey packs, but I think this pack for me is better than the Osprey Exos 58. The Optic has a closer fit to your body (the Exos feels like it is pulling me backwards), has hipbelt pockets, comes with a pack cover and is less expensive.
I have a 20 inch torso and initially bought a size large in the Optic. I now have a medium which is a better fit. Ideally, you should try these on at a local store to get the best fit.
One minor issue I have with this pack is that the hip...

Good light comfortable pack
Due to shoulder issues, I need a backpack with a frame. This pack is pretty darn light for a framed pack. I really appreciate the vented frame against my back which provides good ventilation. I am unsure if the water bottle pockets are going to work with the bottle horizontal - with the bottle(s) vertical, they are less than ideally accessible. No issue if using a bladder and hose, which I will do fi the WB pickets don't end up working well. I purchased this pack instead of the Osprey Exos due to lower price and for online reviews saying that this pack is very good at transferring the load to the hips, providing stability and comfort. I have had a several packs in the past, and the Gregory brand has been the most comfortable for me. Four stars not five due to WB pockets not being ideal.
Pros:
- Light
- comforable
Cons:
- water bottle pockets

Great Lightweight Pack for All Adventures
Overall, this is a very good pack. It's lightweight, very comfortable and can hold a large volume and substantial weight pretty well.
It's not the lightest pack you can find, but it strikes a good balance between weight and comfort.
The compression straps and some of the buckles do not seem very burly and I have some concerns about long term durability. That said, I have not had any issues so far. I do wish the compression straps running along the side of the pack were a thicker single strap, rather than the zig-zag thin strap which was used. This isn't overly bothersome, but I feel the pack could have been better with this.
The ability to pare down the pack by not using the top lid and rain fly is a nice option. Allows for more volume when needed, but when traveling fast and light, it's also easy to accomplish.
I like the large mesh pockets for water bottles and drying wet gear. The water bottle pockets are a bit awkwardly placed and I'm not able to easily retrieve and replace the bottle while hiking. This could not be an issue for some people depending on how the pack fits them and/or what water bottles they use.
The hip belt pockets are large enough to fit any kind of snack, chap stick or other accessory in them. I am also able snugly fit my iPhone 7 in a case, but I don't think a larger phone than that would fit easily.
The straps allow you to strap a sleeping pad or other items to the bottom of the pack. That said, they're not overly large so you're not going to be...

Simply awesome pack, no flaws!!
I ordered this pack to replace my fridge size heavy mega pack, based on a comparison review to another brand i bought the optic 58 large frame size , wow Gregory has built the dream pack, the hip belt is soooo comfortable you forget it is a round you, shoulder straps awesome , I tested it on the P.C.T. for a month straight this August and loved it, the trampoline back never collapsed in and the air flow on my back was pure joy, i did buy the short wide hydration reservoir and it fit great over the frame stay perfectly, ,you would think that a sub three pound pack would be fragile but no way it stood up beautifully, really enjoyed it and highly recommend this pack.
Pros:
- comfort, durability , features
Cons:
- NONE
Best Used for:
- multi day backpack trips
