I have been using this coffee maker for years .I have tried press"s, smaller backpacking coffee pots ,boiled cowboy coffee and various instant brands .Hands down this produces great coffee without the bulk , weight or the mess. I use one every morning in my home , I leave one in my camper and there is one in my boat. Used in combo with jet boil its faster than electric pots. I have the freedom of fresh hot coffee any time any where!

Love this thing. Quality better than expected. Can easily make 24 oz of strong (real) coffee. It replaced my msr coffee mesh whatever that thing is and I couldn't be happier. Now if I could only learn how to make those sassy creamer designs with my powdered creamer...

got tired of bad, overly acidic instant coffee (even the packaged stuff from the coffee company on every other corner was pretty terrible). this makes great coffee! as a bonus, it seems a LOT easier to clean up after than a french press, which is nice when you're camping in back or front country, and especially in bear country. Just throw the filter containing the grounds in your trash bag and pack it out, nothing to wipe down, no messy loose grounds to deal with. And this thing collapses to be quite small. yes, the grounds are extra weight to carry out, but good coffee is worth it to me, and this makes GOOD coffee. cons are it does use quite a few paper filters, which is a bummer and the grounds will weigh more, obviously, to pack out. You can, however, make a bunch into multiple cups or a thermos at once, reducing filters used. pros: i own an aeropress and its awesome when the seal works correctly, but I've found this to make just as delicious coffee and be less messy, so i have started to use this thing at home as well. get yo self one!

I used The Java Drip on a recent 3 person camping trip to the Adirondack mountains of New York. It made a delicious full size pot of coffee each morning. It is light weight, and packs pretty small. Great item.

I can't speak highly enough of this product. It's compact and works perfect. Just heat some water, expand the java drip, put a coffee filter and coffee and pour. Wish i would have retired my old camping percolator years ago and started using java drip. Super easy.
