Most Helpful Positive Review Great for the price.
So far so good. I only wear it in the city. There have been pretty heavy rains, but I’m only walking in them 20 minutes at a time or so. No soak through this far. Love the color and fit. It’s big enough to let me put layers underneath but doesn’t look baggy. I’m 5’8” 180lbs, a little extra build atm.

Good value

by edjb, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on January 25, 2022
I considered the Torrentshell 3L, but bought this because it is cheaper and I felt it would probably do the job. My main use for this is a lightweight winter shell, and I think it will be fine. However, the fabric seems pretty thin - thinner than my last PreCip - and I suspect it will also be fragile - like the last one - the inner fabric layer on the last one shredded pretty quickly since I use a backpack for winter hiking. But, that's the tradeoff.
Pros:
  • Price
  • QUALITY
Cons:
  • Fabric is delicate
  • fabric is thin

Great light rain jacket

by EinColorado, from CO, United States Written on March 17, 2021
Over the years I've owned two or three of these. They are not the driest, nor the lightest, but they also don't break the bank and keep you plenty dry and don't weigh down your pack. A jacket you don't worry about stuffing in the bottom of a pack or beating through the underbrush.
The weight listed is wrong. Mine in size M weighs more like 339 g (or 12 oz).
Pros:
  • Light and Sturdy
Cons:
  • not flash like Arcteryx leaving you too much money for beer
Best Used for:
  • backpacking, hiking, everyday, bike touring

Budget choice!

by Jane, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on June 24, 2020
The price is cheaper than many jackets. And the vents helped with breathability so well. The fit is very comfortable and true to size. The hood can be adjusted to your needs. Recommend the jacket !

Good jacket!

by Jane, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on June 15, 2020
The Marmot PreCip rain jacket is low cost, lightweight, and able to shed rain consistently.
It’s widely-used and breathable with closures at the waist and wrists to keep out water, a full hood, and two zippered hand pockets.

Very impressive coat

by godgila, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on March 29, 2020
If you are looking for a windbreaker, this coat is your best choice. The reason is that the price is very favorable, and it is also waterproof. It also dries quickly after washing, and it is also very effective against strong wind.

Mother of 2

by JJ, from LA, United States Written on February 18, 2020
Great for rain! Lightweight enough for hot weather. Easy to fold. Doesn’t take up much space. Great to bring along on a trip in case of rain. You don’t need an umbrella with this jacket. Won’t disappoint!
