Most Helpful Positive Review Beautiful jacket....except for
This is a warm compact jacket. Quilting in chest area keeps your core well insulated along with lined collar. Fit is snug, although there is enough room for a mid-weight layer underneath. I love the fit a look, however there is one area that is baffling. The sleeves instead of tapering to the wirsts, continue with the same cut until the end. The result is baggy sleeves. I'm assuming the inten

It didn't arrive

by Haflidi K., Verified Owner from Iceland Written on August 27, 2016
I am very disappointed that I haven't received my jacket yet. I was travelling to Canada and was given a timeframe for it to arrive, but that never materialized so I returned to Europe without my jacket.

Good Product but overpriced.

by Will, Verified Owner from NE, United States Written on March 2, 2016
This was my second Variant jacket. The first jacket was very comfortable, but the Polartec sleeves badly pilled on the underside of both arms from shoulder to cuff. The new Variant I just purchased differs in one respect: it has thumb holds in each cuff - a feature my old Variant jacket lacks. I prefer it without the thumb holds which makes the sleeves slightly longer. After seeing the jacket, I decided it was overpriced and returned it.

Great Jacket

by Aaron, Written on December 12, 2013
I've been eyeballing this jacket for well over a year, but couldn't bring myself to the price until I saw it on CampSaver at a very low clearance price. I use this mainly as a mid layer under my motorcycle jacket. It keeps the morning chills at bay, and when I'm not riding, it's a great outer layer down to the low 50's. The only thing I wish it had was a hood, but I didn't want to opt for the Vari

Light, warm, great jacket

by dlux, Written on December 12, 2013
The jacket is really comfortable and warm enough by itself in 40-50 degree weather. It is extremely light and looks great but I wouldn't trust it in any colder climate. The jacket fits snug, which is great except for wearing over a long sleeve button-up shirt...it makes it tough to put on an take off since the sleeves stretch to a tight fit. Overall this is an excellent jacket.

Love It!

by ChooChoo, Written on December 12, 2013
I love the Variant jacket for both going out around town and climbing/hiking. Very trim cut. Warm, especially paired with an outer soft or hard shell. Provides a good combo of warmth & wind protection in a lightweight package. Very stuffable into a pack. I wish it could stuff into it's own pocket, though. The one downside is that the sleeves are very catchy material, so it's harder to put on and t

Marmot Variant Jacket

by Brian the hiker, Written on December 12, 2013
Love the look and lightwight. Concerned about the longevity of the fragile materials. Not warm enough for winter but just enough for a chilly night. I used this in the French Alps and found it too warm to hike in if over 55 degrees. It was not warm enough to stand around in at the same temp. I found the quilted material to scuff and fray easy. The polar tech sleeves fit snuggly and were hard to pu

One of a kind !!

by Cowboy, from TX, United States Written on September 10, 2013
I wear this on cold nights around the house. It is so different than any other clothing I have seen. Would be excellent as outer coat on not too cold days to run or exercise in. Or as an under peace for cold days that might warm up and you could pull off the heaver coat. Multi purpose and fits good and snug.
