Reviews & Ratings for Montane Further Faster Neo Jacket - Men's
— 7 reviews — Page 1
This is a great shell. Extremely well made with incredible attention to detail. The Neoshell fabric is waterproof and actually does breathe (unlike gore-tex and similar membranes that are said to breathe - but don't). The trade-off for the breathable waterproof fabric is that it does not retain quite as much heat as a non-breathable shell, but an extra layer solves this. The upside is the breathability allows excess heat and moisture to move directly through the fabric - no pit zips needed and no swamp inside the jacket. Your base and mid layers will actually dry out while you are wearing this...

I had GoreTex jackets for many years and everytime I started sweating they turned into wearable steam baths. Now this jacket made of PolarTec Neoshell fixes that problem. It really does breathe. The fit is great, the look and features are great. I just wished it had a internal mesh pocket, but that's a minor issue I can live with. I am a happy customer. Thanks Campsaver!
Pros:
breathable
great looking, waterproof, lightweight
nice fitting
Cons:
no internal pocket

This jacket would be perfect if it werent for one major flaw! The small of the back has an elastic binder, in the center. The binder causes the back of the jacket to flair out when wearing. Ive seen similar designs on womens jackets, it looks horrible on a mens piece. The pictures dont show the back of the jacket....for a reason. If it werent for this, this jacket would be great.
Pros:
Comfortable
waterproof
wind proof
Cons:
Horrible back
Best Used for:
Inclement weather

Prolitegear did a full review on this jacket on their YT channel and they raved about it which is why I bought it. Everything about it is built well and is well thought out. While there are a few neoshell jackets on the market with the Eddie Bauer getting all the attention I returned my EB neoshell after watching the Prolitegear review and got this one which is so much better constructed. You don't need the pit zips and the interior pockets and the snow skirt and all that. This is just built really well and you won't be disappointed. One note is that while these jackets have an athletic cut I don't think they are as slim as Arcteryx shells which is perfect for me as I am not a Euro track star. At least that is what I noticed. Overall the cut and fit is great and I couldn't be happier.

This is a great lightweight shell that seems very breathable, much more so than other fabrics like gore-tex. I've just used it as a shell and rain jacket for a week out in Montana winter.

This Montane jacket is very well made, with a lot of nice features. I had to return it due to a being too tight fitting, particularly in the waist. Since I was buying it to wear over other layers, it definitely was not going to work. I'm 5'10" with a medium build, but with a 36 inch waist.
