Most Helpful Positive Review Game-Changer In Rain Jacket Category
(Reviewing 2017 model) The breathable stretch fabric is soft to the touch and unlike any of the usual "crinkly" rain jacket fabrics I've experienced. Much more pleasant and comfortable to wear while still effectively repelling wind and water. I had a chance to prove the jacket in a recent Oregon coa...

Most Helpful Negative Review Loved the material, didn't love the fit or hood.
This was by far the best feeling rain jacket I have ever put on. The stretch fabric feels amazing, and doesn't feel like a rain jacket at all. Not clammy, not crinkly, collar falls flat when not zipped, breathes well, and packs down small. Unfortunately I didn't care for the fit of the jacket at all...

Oxonic raingear

by Lon, from MT, United States Written on June 18, 2019
Quality rain gear. Will keep you dry. Light weight and stretchable. Easy to pack with very little weight. Nice blue color. Zippers do not catch on fabric and slide easily. Breathable material does not seem to get hot and remains comfortable.
Best Used for:
  • Hiking or jogging

Nice & Light

My weight is 71kg and I am 179cm tall - the size M is a good fit for me (runs in a comfy loose manner). The jacket is very light and quite breathable (but only 4/5 star breathable ;) )

Waterproof, packs small

by Margaret S., Written on June 25, 2016
Wore for a week while hiking the Alps. Definitely waterproof in light rain, although we weren't in any heavy rain. It is very lightweight and packs really small, so I never thought twice about keeping it my backpack, even when rain wasn't expected. It is a little oversized, but that is what I wanted so that I could wear other layers (lightweight down jacket) underneath. I have a heavier Gore tex rain jacket, but suspect it won't get used much now.

Flexible, comfortable, and durable!

by Kevin K., Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on February 12, 2016
I had tried the jacket on before I bought it, so I did know what I was looking for. After wearing through a few rainshowers, I feel I can now give a thorough review.

First thing I noticed was the weight. Very lightweight; perfect for my backpacking excursion to Yosemite in the coming months. At first wear, it's easy to notice that the jacket is more comfortable than any raincoat you've ever tried on before. It fits nicely, with enough space for a layer beneath if needed while still not being baggy. The best part is the stretch; I can swing my arms any way around myself, go running, climbing, or backpacking and not feel container by my jacket. It's more comfortable than most of my sweatshirts.

So, I knew it was comfortable, so rain was the real test. I first checked the coating and had a cup of water thrown at me. Not the smartest idea. The jacket repelled every drop without a bead on the jacket, but my jeans were soaked. I later wore it in 2 winter rainstorms and it kept me perfectly dry, comfortable, and cool. It showed it could really moderate temperature as well.

Overall, this product is a great buy, and I recommend spending the extra penny for this model. You won't regret it.

Light, packable, stretchy, waterproof

by Gordon C., Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on February 11, 2016
Love this jacket. Easily the most comfortable 2.5L hardshell I've ever worn with its awesome stretch. Only 9oz, so very packable and packs down quite small. No stuff pocket or sack, but I prefer to roll my hardshells into the hood to minimize DWR wear so no worries for me there.

Has definitely passed the waterproof test so far in some serious rain and wind. The only knock here is that the DWR isn't the best I've used - in heavier rain or windy rain the face wets out, and interestingly develops a "pockmarked" look where the droplets hit hard. I was initially worried about this, but I haven't noticed any leaking and the jacket goes back to normal after a few minutes drying, so I haven't fretted much. And the jacket dries very quickly as well.

Breathability so far seems excellent for all activities I've tried - though the ultimate test will be when I take it to Hawaii in a few months! Overall very happy with this piece. It's an excellent rain shell and one of the lightest I've seen with full features. It will work reasonably well as a light winter shell as well, so long as the weather isn't especially harsh. In driving snow and very cold wind, I'll choose my Theta AR for its extra durability, but that jacket also weighs a full 7oz more, so the Ozonic's performance to weight ratio is impressive!
