Delicious!!

by Mike P., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on June 8, 2018
Another great recipe from Mountain House. Not too sweet, not too sour, but just right. As always, add about an 1/8 to 3/8 less water than suggested so the dish is not watery. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes before opening it up to eat.

Mountain House Sweet & Sour Pork with Rice

by JAMES F., Written on July 29, 2015
This is one of our favorite backpacking foods --- in fact, my 12 year old grandson said this is the best meal he has ever had. If you want great food on your trip, you'll love this.

Having dined on many brands and recipes of dehydrated food I found the Sweet & Sour Pork one of the better tasting, filling dinners. Bon Apetite'.

Freeze-dried Mountain House Backpacker meal

by Tony, from VA, United States Written on January 14, 2015
These 2 serving pouches are just right for one long-distance hiker's supper. The flavor of the sweet and sour pork is enhanced by the real pineapple chunks (also good for digestion and anti-inflammatory). Freeze drying is superior to just dried foods for preserving nutritional value and texture. Only could be improved by using brown rice or by including organic ingredients. A great trail meal!

Good Staple

by John, from NC, United States Written on October 19, 2013
This traditional-style sweet & sour pork meal was surprisingly good. I half expected it to be slightly bland but it wasn't. It was sweet, it was sour - all at good levels. The 2 things that surprised me were: the pork cubes actually had a porky aftertaste to them (I could tell it was pork and not chicken or TVP, etc), also the addition of lots of small pineapple pieces was really nice. by HammocksOnlyPle, from TX, United States Written on September 10, 2013
I was not ready to try this meal so I purchased it for my brother to take on our trip. He chose to eat this the second night of our trip, and after a little coaxing I tried some with a tortilla. Man was i sad I did not purchase one for myself! This meal was filling, easy to hydrate, and best of all soooooooo good! I will definetley be adding this to my list of must have meals from Mountain Hou

Simply The Best M.H. Meal Ever!

by LoganCrest, from UT, United States Written on September 10, 2011
Possibly the best meal I have ever had from Mountain House! This dinner is so delicious, I've had meals at fancy restaurants that don't taste as good as this dinner… AND it's a backpacking meal! I will be eating these for years to come because they are SO SO GOOD!

Perfect sauce, yummy ingredients, and it filled me up. I ate this by myself while everyone else begged for another "taste" ...NO
