This tiny filter works great. It easily fills a water bottle in a minute or you can just drink directly from the top. Water is pumped thru the filter by squeezing the soft side of the container below the mouth piece. The only reason this gets four stars instead of five is because MSR says never allow the filter to freeze because it will destroy the filter fibers. As I am a cold weather camper, this really limits its use for many of my trips.
Pros:
- size, weight, effectiveness
Cons:
- cold weather functionality

I've had this filter for a few years now and it has survived admirably a dozen or so weekend backpacking trips and countless day hikes. The size and weight are great. It fits nicely in the belt pocket of my backpack, which I've discovered I love as it means I don't have to take off my pack to fill up my bottle on the trail. My first backpacking trip with it, despite others having pumps in the group, everyone would ask to use mine because of its ease of use and proved faster in our side by side fillings. That being said it does become a good forearm workout if you're doing multiple bottles on your own. This year the filter slowed to a trickle on a long hike in which the only water source contained a lot of silt, following the cleaning instructions only restored flow for a second or two before returning to a trickle. Don't know that I made it all 2000L but its done pretty well. For hiking with groups in the future it'd be nice to have the gravity bag set-up while at camp, but I feel its way over priced.
In some ways I prefer this over the popular bag/bottle sawyer set-up as I don't have to worry about tracking/carrying a dirty bag/bottle, and don't really have a problem with shallow water sources. Also, if you do end up filtering for a group, when this has good flow, it beats squeezing out and refilling a bottle (i.e. Smart water, etc).
Pros:
- Size
- simplicity
- Flow Rate
Cons:
- Expensive Replacement Filter
- Expensive Accessories

I have chosen this filter by watching different reviews and its design really ideal for hiking. Easy to make enough water for family. And impressive lifetime (2000L). Lightweight and easy to use. Good price on campsaver!

This is a great personal water filtration system. Wouldn't use this for more than 2-3 people. Didn't have the problems with suction that some report. If you pre-fill it ALL THE WAY up with water before use, it works AMAZINGLY.
