Osprey Exos 38 Pack
I ended up not using the Osprey Exos 38, but did use the Osprey Exos 58 for my 2019 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. I originally thought I's use the 38L version for a fastpack of the Superior Hiking Trail, but ended up going down to the Osprey Talon 22 for that purpose. There is little difference between the Osprey Exos 38, 48, and 58, except volume and weight, so my review covers all three sizes. Overall the Exos is a great pack. It's light, durable, comfortable, and is in the end, an Osprey. The hip belt and suspension are the winning features of this pack, as the hip belt and suspension...

He is not perfect, but close to it!
Studying what the modern industry offers, I came to the OSPREY backpacks of the Exos series. After all, this company in the last five years has suddenly burst into the front in the field of creating comfortable backpacks - a ventilated back, three external pockets on an elastic mesh, a removable valve and an incredibly low weight. The backpack has convenient pockets, including on shoulder straps, as well as a removable valve (mega it is important on the road, you can even use it as a waist bag or put in it all important trifles and take in hand luggage), has a large elastic pocket with a frontal side. This is unrealistically cool and really very convenient. If I have such a backpack in a hike, these pockets are always packed with useful nonsense, which is constantly needed in the campaign. Usually, there is a waterproof set of pants-jacket. Agree, it's silly to wear 8-10 kilograms of equipment in a backpack weighing 2-2.5 kilograms! Therefore, the opportunity to have a backpack of this level of comfort and volume, which weighs only 1 kg - it's really right!

Third in the Exos line
I own an Exos 48 and 58 so I purchased the Exos 38 small for my 20 year old daughter. She is very happy with the lighter weight and comfort compared to her old pack. Excellent quality though the lighter fabrics are not quite as durable as heavier packs. Still, the light weight and functionality has made the Exos packs our go to packs for both weekend and extended ultralight trips.
Pros:
- Lightweight, rear pocket, comfort.
Cons:
- Hard for me to access my water bottle where the side pocket is located
Best Used for:
- Weekend to weeklong ultralight trips
