Most Helpful Positive Review Perfect for cool weather climbing.
Used this @ J. Tree when the weather was in the mid 40's to low 50's. It kept me warm but not too warm while climbing under those conditions while just wearing a base layer underneath. It's stretches easily while reaching for those far away holds. It's not designed for wet weather. It's also perfect as a 2nd insulating layer underneath a belay jacket. I wore the large size on a 5.8 170 lb broad shoulder frame that was the perfect size for me.

Five star, best fleece

Nice fleece for autumn and winter. I use it over smartwool nts 250 base layer for extra warmth. It is ultra warm and yes, it is a must buy item. I have one hooded and 2 pullover. I love the pullover version for it weight!

Nice fit (medium for me - I’m 6’ 145 lbs). Heavier than expected. Slightly different fit in body from regular R1 I picked up on special last year.

The R1 Hoody provides great temperature regulation; the sleeve length is perfect for using the thumb-loops; and the hood with its asymmetric zipper eliminates the need for a balaclava.

Comfortable and Useful

The R1 Hoody is exactly as advertised. It's comfortable, warm, lightweight, and can be used for a variety of outdoor activities. The sleeves are long enough to hook over thumbs, which are great when you have gloves or need a little extra warmth. The pocket is a little bit small, but one could fit a map or some flat items in it.
The best part of the R1 Hoody is the hoodie shape. It's form fitting, so it works great underneath a helmet. The zipper also veers to the cheek instead of straight up under the nose, so it's not irritating.
