First, the construction of this boot is amazing. Solid and seems to be comfortable. However, I’ve hiked about 50 miles and I get massive blisters on my heels. I’ve tried different socks, lace tightnesses, etc. I also sent a note to scarpa to get their thoughts and they never responded…which is lame for such a premium boot. They seem to be the correct size…size 50 which is as big as they get and are supposed to be equivalent to size 16 (US). Unfortunately these are just not very comfortable…I have numerous hiking boots that cost half as much that are WAY more comfortable. I’ll keep trying to break these in but my guess is they are a lost cause.
Cons:
- uncomfortable
- heel blisters

These boots are amazing for back packing and general mountaineering. Through the years I have owned Danner Mountain Light, Italian Vasque Sundowners, Vasque Montana's, Merril Wilderness, Zamberlan Vioz, Asolo 520GV, Scarpa Kinesis GTX, and Limmer’s custom standard boots. I believe these are my favorite. They do not have a goretex liner so they seem breathe better and you don’t have to worry about the liner failing you in the field. They are made of a silicone impregnated 2.8 mm leather and are incredibly waterproof/bombproof. The Kinesis is nice but the leather is much softer, slightly thinner, and there is the goretex thing. They also did not hold up as well as these.

Phenomenal boots so far! I haven't had them long, and I'm currently in the process of breaking them in. They don't take much break in, either. I've always been interested in the Scarpa SL, but I've never been able to commit to them until now. About 10 years ago, I bought a pair of the SL M3 boots, but had to return them because I don't fancy the feel of 2x4's strapped to the bottom of my feet. Once the SL Activ was released, I tried them too, a couple times, but could never commit because they always felt just a little too roomy and sloppy for my feet. Now, with the latest version of the boot (the SL Active), they're definitely a winner for me. Notice the difference there; Activ versus Active. That's deliberate
