Most Helpful Positive Review Great Base Layer for sleeping or cool mornings
purchased this top with the Smartwool Merino 250 Baselayer Bottom - Men's for a baselayer for cool nights camping/sleeping. They are very soft and comfortable wearing them around the house. Decided to try them out first - setting out on the patio for my morning coffee at 36°F while reading a book - with only the baselayer top and bottoms and some Smartwool socks. Still nice and comfortable after 30 minutes outside. Cannot wait to use these while out camping. Was concerned about the sizing given I am 6'3" and 190lbs, 34" waist - and typically require larger sizes due to larger shoulders...

Better than most...

I’m impressed with this top- I have worn this outside in upper teens/ lower 20’s by itself and stayed fairly warm the entire time. Definitely a quality product, though it is a bit expensive, but still worth the money.

Smartwool Quality Look and Feel

Nice, comfortable merino wool underlayer. Has a nice look and feel. Higs in the right places and is not itchy. Zip top is very nice for venting. Nice basic color that blends easily with other layers.

Great fabric.Love my Smartwool base layers and will recommend to my friends. Super comfortable, breathable and warm. I will recommend to people who like to be comfortable and hate the stink of polypro.

warm, thin and flexbile

I bought this for my winter hikes. It worked great - warm, thin and great for my layering system. Breathability seems great. It never gets too warm! I used it at home on its own when I am not on the trail. Body odor smell-resistant really works too. :) And I ended up buying two more for my wife and my son. Now my daughter really wants one. Highly recommended.

The is a great and comfortable base layer. Great length in the arms and body and has kept me to the right temperature during hiking and snowboarding. I really appreciate the ventilation & cooling option of the zip neck.

Good Product

Same soft feel, warm but not too hot, easy movement, and great fit. The seams are more low profile and have been moved away from where pack straps hit the shoulders. The zipper is higher quality with a better pull-tab. Glad to see Smartwool is still doing it well. These are pure wool pieces so store appropriately to keep the bugs away.

best baselayer

I love this top so much! I have been using the product for more than a month. This was an amazingly warm base layer, needing only a light down jacket layer and of course a windproof jacket when stopped. The half zip was good at adjusting body temps during steep ascents. Great mid layer and warm. Great price and value. Subjectively great product and worth the product.

Warm mid layer

This shirt exceeded my expectations. We had freezing rain and just down right miserable conditions. Dispite the wet conditions I stayed warm and comfortable as wool is supposed to do. Thank you smart wool base layer.

Great base layer

Warm, soft and comfortable. Excellent when the temp falls below freezing. Also great for an extra layer while in your sleeping bag on a cold night. Combine with a rain shell or jacket to protect against wind and you'll be plenty warm
