Not Great, but not Bad
Received this just in time for a Teton Crest trail excursion. It is not a bad little device, but also not a game changer for me. If you are going to be primarily drinking from a wide mouth bottle it will work great. Just make sure to have batteries with enough juice.

Easy Drinkin'
The classic design of the steripen is easy to use and easy to carry. Great for camping and travel. Just keep in mind, this tool blasts the water to make it safe to drink, but doesn't filter it. I've used one of these for weeks in the backcountry and after a long day, waiting a few minutes to drink sure beats pumping water!! Highly recommend.

Efficient and easy to use. Works really well with a wide-mouth Nalgene. We use a bandana to filter out sediments and then the pen to finish the job.
Keep in mind the batteries are big & bulky so it adds weight to your final system.
It is our preferred system for the speed and ease of use.
Also great for non-outdoor settings with questionable water to make sure you travel sickness-free.

Steripen Classic Water Purifier
Lost my first one, not sure how as it was in it's case in my backpack ( but I do have kids ). Found this one at CampSaver.com for less than half the price of the old one and had it in a week. Tried it out and it's the same as the last one, same high quality dependable robust backpacking purifier I had before. Very happy with the purchase and will probably buy my camping supplies here from now on.

Read instructions carefully& test it before going on trail. The battery placement can be confusing because of the +,-, symbols. Unfortunately, there is no sure way to know whether your water is safe or not until too late. Worth the try though. Will be good for travel to questionable areas.

Just a little disappointed . . .
I love steripen and have been using it for years. I bought this one as a gift but was disappointed it didn't come with the pre-filter, my mistake for not reading the fine print!
