I don't sleep well on hard surfaces. Use this for overnight backpacking. The pad gives me the cushion I need plus helps keep me warm when the temperature drops into the 30's overnight. It's slightly heavier than a regular backpack sleeping pad, but a good night's rest is worth the extra ounces.
