It's a great pad. The blow up bag thing isn't very practical. I think it takes more effort to blow up the pad with the inflator/storage bag than it takes to simply blow it up the old fashioned way. Everything else I read, heard and imagined about the pad turned out to be true. Yep, it's a bit noisy and yes it's super comfy, light, and compact. My only wish is that it could be a little wider.

Lightweight, very warm , high quality

by Gary, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on April 2, 2023
I have been using air sleeping mat from Thermarest for many yeart, the last one is xlite which is super light, warm and very durable, works well for five years by now. I bought this xtherm for deep winter camping, it is very very warm , just bit heavier than my Xlite. the fabric on bottom is thicker than xlite, so it will be more durable. But I think the fabric on xlite is durable enough lasting for years. Great pad, i love it.
Pros:
  • Lightweight, very warm , high quality
Cons:
  • Expensive
Best Used for:
  • hiking, expedition , winter camping

Lite and Warm

by ser, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on January 22, 2023
my Therm-A-Rest self inflating camp mattress became delaminated after more than 15 years. That thing was great, so I looked for another Therm-A-Rest.
This one - though not self inflating - packed smaller and lighter and I liked the shape better. I mostly use it in my hammock so not having sharp corners was a thing for me.

Fantastic for cold weather

by Colin Williams, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on April 5, 2022
It’s a great pad. Lightweight and super warm in fairly extreme cold. I’ve spent many winter nights on this and never been cold. I also really love the pump sack that comes with this. It makes it very easy to pump at high elevation and keeps the moisture out of your pad.
Pros:
  • warm , light weight
Cons:
  • None

Thermarest NeoAir XTherm Sleeping Pad

by bleepinjeep, from KY, United States Written on November 29, 2021
This sleeping pad does what it's supposed to do and then some. Been on one cold weather trip with it and performance was as expected. Very lightweight and packs smaller than any pad I have used in the past. Downside it might be just a little narrow, and I doubt I will ever use the inflation bag. A little {a lot} pricey. Blows up easily.

Lightweight, warm, excellent!

by BryceU, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 19, 2021
I bought the large size and use it as my cold weather pad. The warmth to weight ratio is amazing and I have no complaints. The pad is a little noisy, but every pad I've owned is as well. The inflation valve easily lets the pad inflate and deflate.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • warm
Cons:
  • None

It's light and easy to use

by CuiBing CuiBing, Verified Owner from China Written on June 5, 2021
Very light, thick enough
The insulation performance is very good
It's easy to store
The inflation and deflation are fast, and the new opening is more convenient
The only drawback is that the sound is a little loud when turning over.

Thermarest neotherm

by PT, from MN, United States Written on April 2, 2021
Easy to use. Well made. Super comfortable and warm. I highly recommend it. There’s a reason why it is so highly rated on gear review website. Plus, it’s cheaper here than other places. Best pad I have ever used.

Great R-Value of 6.9

by ser, from DE, United States Written on March 18, 2021
I bought this sleeping pad the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Xtherm . Its keeps you nice and warm. I bought the Large. It has its own pump sack/stuff sack and repair kit included. I used the pump sack to blow it up because I've heard that you don't want to use your breath because anything you blow up can get your moist condensation air from your mouth into it.
