Most Helpful Positive Review Westcomb Chilko sizing
Just reviewing for sizing info. I'm inbetween a large and extra large, so never sure which to order. I got the XL, but have a feeling the large would have fit better, without being too snug.

Best Down Sweater

by Ayaz, from NJ, United States Written on December 19, 2015
I have many down jackets, and do lots of research before I buy anything. This is by far the best down piece I own, and may be the best in the market. With 900 fill Hutterite Canadian down, the insulation is best of breed. The fabric is light, yet durable. Construction is top grade as its made in Canada, not the far east, quality jacket throughout. Its the one jacket that will go camping, climbing, walking, tailgating, etc. since its styling is basic yet modern. The Large fits a bit snug on my 5'10", 200 lb frame (36"w, 42"chest). It is better suited for "non" tall people, sleeves are 34" and the hem falls right at my beltline.

Veryt nice jacket but....

by Frank, from MD, United States Written on January 26, 2015
I really wanted to love this but it's just not up to the high quality of other Westcomb jackets so I had to return it. Material, build and fit through the body were perfect. (I have a 38" chest - small) The sleeves were too short, much shorter than the Orb jacket I have and my Focus LT. Second the sleeve opening were so small I had to struggle to get my hands through. It appears the elastic is very cheaply made, too tight, with no adjustment.

I love this jacket; I hope I find a way to make it work!

by Daniel P., from MO, United States Written on November 20, 2014
This is the lightest, warmest, most well made "down sweater" you'll ever find. It's 900 fill down is well distributed, and amply stuffed to really hold in the heat. The outer fabric is tough enough (for my use anyway). So what's the hesitation? The cuffs on the sleeves are totally unique to what I've ever seen; They are basically an elastic cord, a fabric-bound rubber band. The issue is that they are tight; tighter than any jacket's cuffs I've seen (and I've tried a lot of jackets!). There is no adjustment; they either work or they don't. In my case, the small Chilko fit fine -- except for the cuffs! The medium's cuffs seem like they will stretch enough to work, but the jacket is a little bigger overall than I like. Oh, the problems caused by being a "smediam" -- just between sizes small and medium! Anyway, the jacket is too good to pass up. I'll keep trying the medium till I know if it works, and I sure hope it does. By the way, I'm 5'8", weigh 148, and have a 38" chest, and a 32" waist.

Great jacket, bad fit!

by Daniel P., from MO, United States Written on November 3, 2014
This was going to be great purchase! I found this brand by accident, but am now sold on them. They make really high quality jackets and I have 3 or 4 others that work really well for me. I wanted a light weight, wear anywhere down coat that I could wear to the store, my grandkids games, or use in my daily walk. This was it. Not so fast….everything is great except for the cuffs on the sleeves. They have no adjustment, they are tight fitting elastic (and I emphasize tight fitting). I’m a small guy, with small wrists, but the cuff is so close fitting that the only way to take the jacket off is to literally turn the jacket inside out, and remove your hand by pulling it of the inverted sleeve. That proved too much of a hassle for me….and I wanted to love the coat, too. Sorry about that Westcomb!

Not the same

by Coach Tom, Written on May 5, 2014
The new version of the Chilko is not as warm as the previous one. It does not have a shock cord to adjust the waist. Westcomb has chosen instead to use elastic which cannot be adjusted.

I returned the jacket as it was not what Campsaver described on the website.
