The Women's Alpine Trainer Mid GTX from Salewa combines the comfort and support of hiking boots with the technical features of approach footwear, such as lightness, rugged sticky Vibram soles, climbing lacing, full Kevlar protected rands, and elastic collar construction. A Mid cut version for more support and safety around the ankles.

I purchased this product for hiking/backpacking. I have a particularly hard time with finding shoes in general because I have a skinny ankle, but wide toes. I purchased a few boots and this did the best job of hugging my ankle and providing enough toe room. I think a big part of this is because of the stretchy cushion on the ankle.

I got these for hiking....I hike about 4 times a week, living in SW Colorado. I didn't check "durable" 'cause these only last a bit over a year, but I think it's because I wear them SO much! This is my 2nd pair. They fit well, I feel "nimble" when hiking on talus & tough ridges, they always feel comfortable. If I have to buy new ones every year, they're worth it!

The Mountain Trainer is designed to excel over rocks on technical hikes on and off the trail. It is extremely rugged and will require a short break in period.
