The Rapace GTX is a lightweight mountaineering boot that teams a hard-wearing nubuck and fabric upper with waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX protection. Secure grip meets comfort and support SALEWAs solution for via ferratas mountaineering. The Rapace GTX features 3F System for ankle support, flexibility and a perfect fit, and an improved rear ankle mobility thanks to the patented Flex Collar. Its Vibram WTC outsole has an aggressive tread pattern that gives good traction, yet provides a natural feel and secure grip on rock,and it's coupled with the Bilight TPU midsole providing a long-lasting cushion compared to the traditional sole packs. Inside the boot, SALEWAs Bilight technology in the midsole ensures an ergonomic hold and long-lasting cushioning for extended comfort. The Rapace GTX is also stiff enough for use with semi-automatic crampons. In addition, the GORE-TEX Performance Comfort lining delivers optimized climate comfort should the weather close in on you and theres a full rubber rand for protection against rock and scree.

New (2015) style worn once after rain in wet grass for break in - socks soaked after 30 minutes. Not waterproof at all. Comfy, supportive, narrow, tready, all good. Water, come on in! Also, Campsaver displays old, more leather version in default website photos ships new, softer, and apparently anti-waterproof version. Buyer bewear...

The boots fit my long, narrow feet great, are light and stable, have good treads, and look cool.
They are in no way waterproof, however. After walking in wet grass for 30 minutes my socks and feet were soaked. The water came in through the nylon tongue and gussets under the laces. This nylon extends all the way to the tow. Mountain boots like this will by definition be used ... Read more

I am on my third pair of Rapaces. The latest are the new model. Love the low weight and fantastic grip on rock but like other reviewers find they are totally not waterproof. Odd and dangerous for a crampon compatible mountaineering boot. I was hoping the new material would be waterproof as claimed.
