Just used my new rope outside for the first time at Blue Mounds State Park in MN. It worked well on the hard quartzite cliffs and was used as an anchor, for rapelling and for top rope climbing. I've only owned this rope for 3 months and used it on 4 alpine climbs and have already noticed some fraying and decent amount of fuzziness. Have only used the rope for lead climbs and never top rope. In the meantime, I tried several types of ropes.
MAMMUT, PETZL, EDELRIDE, BLACKDIAMOND, TENDON.
First try Sterling Evolution Helix 9.5 mm Rope.
This rope is a bit harder than the other 4 makers.
It has a similar feeling to tendon.
It does not mean that it is bad, but it may feel stiff to those who have used soft ropes.
on the "BiColor" Colors of the rope, it has a weave change in the sheath. With the non BiColor colors, it has a middle mark. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
