Providing comfort and value for those discovering a love for the outdoors, the Trail Scout uses premium self-inflating foam for essential comfort at camp. The 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick pad gives users three-season comfort with a 3.1 R-value. The pad compacts small enough to easily fit into your pack when its time to hit the trail. The versatile self-inflating pad features the high-performance WingLock valve, which has three times the airflow rate of the classic valve thanks to a larger opening and one-way inflation. Like all Therm-a-Rest pads, the Trail Scout is made in market to ensure quality and minimize environmental impact. The pad includes a compact stuff sack.

It's hard to beat this pad in terms of weight, R value (warmth), and durability. It doesn't look rugged, but I've slept on this pad for several weeks and used it extensively in my Trekker chair, with no leaks so far. And that's saying something since I weigh around 200 lbs. Maybe it's not the most comfortable mat to sleep on bit for the price and given the R-Value - you can't beat it. It comes with compression sack, so you can toss in inside your backpack and hang it with carabiner outside. Very compact!

I think it is the best sleeping pad at this price and the build quality very well. You will feel comfortable when sleeping on it. But you also feel your back pain next day or waking up in the middle of the night(side sleep is fine). because the thickness too thin—Just 1"

This is a comfortable sleeping pad. Definitely recommend opening it up and letting it take full shape for a while before using. But I've been very happy with this product so far.
Tried it on the floor. Feels better than our foam pad also lighter weight. We'll see how it feels on the ground in the back country of Yosemite National Park...
"Self inflating" really refers to the inner foam's ability to reclaim its shape after being compressed or rolled up. It will expand to a point, and you will finish inflation by blowing in the nozzle. It may take a little more time for the foam to expand the first time around, but this review is not accurate.

This will depend on the hammock you have and the pad you are after. Standard width on the pad (unless you get the wide version) is 20 inches. The length will depend on your selection (regular is 72 inches long or 6 ft).
