Product Info for Trangia Spirit Stove

The Trangia Spirit Stove is the most versatile and user friendly alcohol burner on the market. Its simmer ring allows the burner to adjust from full to simmer and extinguishes the flame when closed completely. The twist on cap with o-ring seals the burner so you don't have to empty unused fuel between uses and prevents evaporation - less fuel wasted means less fuel you have to carry.image

Its well made in Sweden and any research will show one that Trangia is the gold standard for alcohol stoves. Buy once type of purchase as the quality lasts a life time. That said, this stove comes with snuffer lid and a stand that is sturdy and big enough to actually use. Stand will press easily into ground and form a sturdy platform for cooking while the stove is centered ...

Great bug out bag/emergency kit item. You should have a safe/sturdy bottle to carry fuel when backpacking/hiking.

For car camping, this stove is hard to beat. The burner is nice and compact, and of course Trangia is the gold standard in simplicity. While the stand may be too bulky for a thru-hiker,no one could fault it's stability (like using the stove in your kitchen at home). The simmer ring provides a chance for low & slow cooking or remove it for a nice fast boil.JUST TERRIFIC !

All Trangia stoves are good kit. Most people that use them are of the ultra light weight types. To meet its full potential many if not most make their own custom pot stands/wind screens as they can be very compact and light. Check for plans on the net. Mine is a piece of thin sheet metal with vent holes that took 10 minutes to make and wraps around a nalgene bottle for storage....

In retirement, my wife and I like to go for long walks in the woods. We like to enjoy our our tea/coffee hot and fresh. This little stove lets us heat water when we're deep in the woods and make a cup. Excellent product!

Q What kind of fuel does it take and do you sell the fuel?
A
Expert Answer

Denatured alcohol is the recommended fuel because it burns cleanly. (You can pick this up at any hardware store). Other alcohols like isopropyl can be used if necessary, but Trangia reccomends watering it down just a little. Isopropyl does not burn as cleanly as denatured alcohol, and you may need to clean the burner more often.
