With a 3-dimensional full down collar, a full-length YKK zipper, and 5 inches of loft, the Alpinlite has quickly become a popular model. The award winning Ultralite has been a favorite among lightweight backpackers for more than a decade, and the Alpinlite is just a wider version of that great bag. Used this a couple of weeks ago for a week-long July backpacking trek in Northern New Mexico. Feather light, very comfortable and plenty warm. I love the ease of zipping and unzipping. I'm 6'2" tall, 210 pounds, and I like taller, roomier (made in the USA) Western Mountaineering (WM) bags from Campsaver. The lightest bag I had was the 7' WM Badger GWS (great bag), but it weighs 3 pounds. Heavy for summer backpacking. This is by far my favorite outdoor gear item I own. And the most expensive. It was recommended by an AT Thru-hiker that I know and I saved up to purchase it and don't regret the decision in the slightest. I've used my AlpinLite 20 on many winter adventures across the U.S. I love this bag. It's light. Packs down well. I've owned the regular and the narrow version. I'm a slim guy and prefer the narrower version, if you're on the fence with that decision.
