The Arcteryx Sidewinder Jacket now has an offset WaterTight Vislon front zipper that delivers a durable, smooth operation which improves the zipper action, and the offset position of the shaped contour eliminates zipper stack when layering. Articulation through the sleeves allows the jacket to move effortlessly during aggressive ascents and descents, and a relaxed cut permits easy layering. Built with lightweight and durable GORE-TEX textile with a soft brushed backer, and an array of snowsports features.

Disappointed with the performance, went on a ski/snowboarding trip and the jacket failed at the left arm seam. This was an obvious failure of the arm stitching and I really expected more from this jacket which was marketed as being one of the most durable snow jackets. I purchased this jacket as well as a Northface, and an Outdoors Research. I also checked the prices on Millet, Patagonia and Marmot. The quality of the product is similar to its competitors but it is much more expensive. I already own a BETA SV jacket, the reason I was looking at the Sidewinder is due to the cut. This shell is bomb proof! I use jacket for skiing and have worn it in blizzard and blue bird days. It is now the only jacket I take with me. I highly recommend this jacket! However it is Not without its imperfections. The following are pros and cons.
Cons - opening and closing the zippers requires two hands. I am disappointed by how small some of the pockets are.

This is by far the best jacket I own. Excellent materials, great technical features, looks good as well.
If you are looking for all round ski shell this is the perfect fit. It has the same gortex grade as the alpha SV with the added value of a zipper going to the side to not bother your chin.
