Most Helpful Negative Review Failed after 10 days...
Disappointed with the performance, went on a ski/snowboarding trip and the jacket failed at the left arm seam. This was an obvious failure of the arm stitching and I really expected more from this jacket which was marketed as being one of the most durable snow jackets. I didn't have any major falls beyond what is normal and the jacket was purchased less than a year ago and only used for 10-12 days. Warranty experience was not quick enough when I reached out, factory store told me it was "wear and tear". Online was better however I needed a repair/replacement within two weeks for my next mounta...

Quality product but over priced

by Cameron, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 11, 2018
I purchased this jacket as well as a Northface, and an Outdoors Research. I also checked the prices on Millet, Patagonia and Marmot. The quality of the product is similar to its competitors but it is much more expensive. I already own a BETA SV jacket, the reason I was looking at the Sidewinder is due to the cut. Arcteryx does not properly size their layers. I am a large, with the base and two layers, the jacket I currently own becomes a sausage raper. The Sidewinder has a more generous cut allowing for layering. However, it is overpriced for its quality, after all it is a Gortex shell. I have been buying Arcteryx for years and I have seen other brands catch up, but Arcteryx has produced no price worthy improvements to justify its premium. I will be returning the jacket.
Pros:
  • Good fit for layering.
Cons:
  • Price
Best Used for:
  • Winter layering

A jacket to last you a decade.

by Kelly B., Verified Owner from NV, United States Written on February 24, 2016
This shell is bomb proof! I use jacket for skiing and have worn it in blizzard and blue bird days. It is now the only jacket I take with me. I highly recommend this jacket! However it is Not without its imperfections. The following are pros and cons.

Cons - opening and closing the zippers requires two hands. I am disappointed by how small some of the pockets are.

Pros - you could be in the heart of a tornado and not feel any wind. Remains totally dry even in the worst conditions. Venting pockets allow you to stay cool even in the heat. Has a ton of pockets. Very well constructed. Looks good!

I am 5'10, 175 lbs and a large fits me perfectly. The arm length and overall length is just right.

Arcteryx sidewinder review

by Faraj K., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on February 17, 2016
This is by far the best jacket I own. Excellent materials, great technical features, looks good as well.
If you are looking for all round ski shell this is the perfect fit. It has the same gortex grade as the alpha SV with the added value of a zipper going to the side to not bother your chin.
I'm 5f8", 170lb and small size fits just right with room for internal layers as well.
