This durable aluminum is intended to keep out the wind, though it will probably hold up small pots and their contents.

No, the Classic Windscreen probably would not hold a pot on top while cooking. It is made to fit around a pot and alcohol stove to concentrate the heat transfer. There are some windscreens that also act as a support for your pan or pot to use with a fuel source such as wood or Sterno. They usually have a cross support. An image search for "windscreen alcohol stove" will show many examples.
