Most Helpful Positive Review The perfect pants haven't been invented yet...
These pants are the next best thing. I compare the material and quality to the Crye Precision Weather Resistant pants. I'm 6'4" and a lengthy 240lbs and the XL talls (36-39" waist) fit very well in length (no floods here) and slightly big in the waist compared to...say... Eddie Bauer khakis with a 36inch waiste. Nothing you can't sinch up with the belt strap or fill in with a warm base layer though. I'd say these pants are pretty ideal. When you're really going, this stretch fabric sets you free. Bro, you could do yoga in these. These are also way comfortable under a large backpack hip belt. N...

I like Arc'teryx clothes. It is a regular size, so it fits well. I like the fit, I'll wear it for winter hiking. Delivery was a little late this time, but I am planning to purchase other clothes...

Best pant for cold weather.

by George, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on April 25, 2020
I really like this double weave shell pant that is not only durable but also breathable. They are so comfy that the Gamma AR is the one pant I am wearing when I am not skiing. I'd like to recommend this to you, everyone should have at least one of this.

soft shell pants

by Fei, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on April 23, 2020
I bought this a month ago and wanted to use it mainly for hiking. As Arcteryx “AR” stands for “All-Around”, the gamma AR pant is very versatile and suitable in almost every hiking environment. It’s material is flexible and breathable so it is comfortable to wear for all activities.

Well worth the $$

by HaHa, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on March 4, 2020
I took these up Denali, and loved them. Comfiest pants I own, and stood up to the abuse of a long expedition. I only used them for cold-weather climbing, but they seemed to be the perfect temperature balance for climbing in Colorado or on Denali. The pockets are awesome, the zipper design makes them particularly easy to use.

Great outdoor pants

by dk, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on July 3, 2018
These are great pans for backpacking. tough, stretchy, fit well, very comfortable. Pocket is great, in the right spot, easy to get to. Belt works well, does not interfere with pack belt. And they come in longer lengths, which is great for taller people.
Pros:
  • Comfortable
  • Stretch
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking
  • MOUNTAINEERING

Great pair of Hiking/Multi Purpose Pants

by Ralphykeys, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on January 19, 2018
These parts are fantastic, maybe a little overpriced, but we'll see in 5 years if they are still in great shape they will be worth it.
These pants appear indestructible, and fit great, very slim fit.
I do think there is a bit of confusion on the designers part in terms of this and the MX pants. I would have perfered the zipper pulls on the MX and not so much here, but that is a small issue. I also wish these pants had two hip pockets like the MX as well.
The material is very comfortable to wear as well and despite saying they are slim fit, there is a bit of room for a base layer.
I have taken these mostly winter hiking and found they kept the wind out well, haven't worn them in rain at all, so not 100% sure yet how well they will do, the MX is great for rain and snow. I find these and the MX to be xtremely similar pants functionally. The MX are way warmer/insulated also feel better against the skin, but these are also great pants.
Pros:
  • Great Fit
  • Zipper Pulls
  • zippered cargo pocket
Cons:
  • only one cargo pocket
Best Used for:
  • HIKING
  • Cold weather hiking, walking, travel

Great for ice climbing and mountaineering

by Eric A., from NH, United States Written on March 21, 2017
Really found this pant to be comfortable and well suited for alpine activities. Fits me really well in the tall sizing (I'm 6'4") and it is great that it is offered as it is hard for me to find technical pants that fit in the inseam. Sturdy material and the DWR coating works well as we recently went climbing in the White's and there was a lot of snow to plunge through to get to the ice and I did not get at all wet. Not the warmest pants but they have room so you can layer up without being bulky. Very happy with these.
