Checks all the boxes
We bought this tent bc we carry gear for 2 parents and 2 toddlers. That adds up on a 2k portage. It is lighter than the 2, 2-man tents from MEC/Hardware that we used to take along. I can't believe how light it really is! There is so much space inside and it comes with 2 gear pockets in every corner....

not a sturdy tent
I had high hopes for this tent. I have seen so many rav reviews and have always been a fan of Big Agnes.
I soon noticed two flaws in the design that prevent me from using this tent. First. The hub at the "Y" connection has very sharp points that really put a stress on the fly. I'm certain that in ti...

Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL4 try out
Getting late and dark, I'm by myself in my yard to try out this tent. The set up instructions are sewn into the bag that holds everything. No drawings or pictures in the instructions, I'm tired, read the instructions if I can't figure it out. Laid out the tent. Staked the corners. The tent laid out is a big rectangle. There are only two poles. The big pole assembly is shock corded, comes together in a center hub. Plugged in the shock corded pole ends to form a large four leg pole structure, and plugged in the four color coded ends to the matching color tabs on the tent corners. The tent has clips that attach to the poles, and the tent is up. The short shock corded pole goes from door to door above the other pole structure from the plug in spots on the tent above the doors. I found it best to attach the two top tent clips to the short pole. This tent is easy for one person to set up. Now the fly. The fly has color coded plastic corner inserts that match the tent color tabs so you can get the fly oriented to match the tent. The fly has three Velcro loops per pole to attach to the poles. The Velcro loops are a pain to attach to the poles while the fly is flapping around. You are between the tent and fly attaching the Velcro loops to the poles. Then I attached the color coded corner fly plastic corner inserts into the color coded tent tabs, and called it a night. The fly has one ceiling vent with a short stick that holds the vent open. It was a calm night so I ...

Excellent Big Agnes UL4
This UL4 tent is awesome! We always have a big group going backpacking with us and this tent provides enough room to sleep 4 people even on wide pads. We have not used the tent yet, but it was easy to assemble the first time and packs down very light considering it will sleep 4 people.
Pros:
- Lightest tent you can get for 4 people and good quality..
Cons:
- It's big and may be a little harder to find a suitable to setup
Would recommend: Yes
Lite and livable group tent for backpacking (or camping)
So much goodness in under 6 pounds! (Less than $1.5 pounds per person.) This tent actually fits four (4) full sized people. The pole structure is simple thanks to color coding, setup is a breeze. There is a mainly meshy canopy so condensation doesn't build up. I own many Big Agnes products and their quality and my experience with BA tents means this one has the strength to handle gusty winds, heavy rain, and even a little lite snow in a pinch. It is too bad BA does not give footprints out with their tens like some other manufacturers are doing these days. This means you're going to want to buy one to provide added warmth and protection against the waterproof floor. All in all, this is a great tent if you need room for 3-4 people. (I'm pleased.)
Pros:
- Easy Set Up
- Lite
- condensation free
- color choices
Cons:
- Price
- No footprint included
Best Used for:
- Backpacking and camping
Would recommend: Yes
Great tent
We haven't used this tent yet, so we cannot attest to its durability; so far, it seems terrific. It's noticeably lighter than our past four-person backpacking tents. It's well made and the pole design is great.

- Backpacking

HVUL4 4 person tent
This is an excellent test with many features that still manages to remain very light given its size. It has excellent corner and overhead storage mesh pockets as well as a ventilation flap in the rain fly for warm summer nights. it packs well, particularly in a compression stuff bag, and the poles are relatively easy to use. My only complaint is that Big Agnes's person rating system is a bit generous. I believe that if you put 4 full-sized persons in this tent they would all have to agree not to breathe deeply!
Pros:
- Weight, breathable, compact, fashionable
Cons:
- Sizing
Best Used for:
- 3 person camping
Would recommend: Yes
Great tent
We bought the tent for camping/backpacking for our family of four, and it has been great. Extremely lightweight and very high quality construction. Our only rub is that we wish instructions were included for using the guy lines because there don't seem to be enough stakes if the guy lines are required to be staked independently of the rest of the tent.

Great Tent
We have used our tent for years (5-6?), and I still love this tent. It is very lightweight and sturdy. Beyond the normal rains, it has survived a sandstorm ( sand gets in, but the tent stood) and a localized microburst ( one corner collapsed, but gear stayed dry). Both times we were away, so the tent was on it's own. One stay, on the side vent, has worked it's way thru the rain fly, but I woul
