This was, in my opinion, a perfect companion to my Ice Axe. There is not much that can really be said other than it does what it says it's supposed to do. The only thing missing is the protector for the spike which logically should be included with the head protector. Not that big of a deal, though, it just would have been nice to have it included.

I really admire this tent for the design and the space. I have been on the hunt for a lightweight 4 pound or less 4-season tent for a few months now. I have been buying (and returning) a lot of tents. This one is no exception unfortunately.
This tent is by far the longest tent I have tested which gave me a lot of hope. It is like a palace inside with a ton of space for one person, plenty of space for two and the length that a 6'3" inhabitant would need. This tent could easily accommodate a 6'6" sleeper without touching either end with their bag. Setup is incredibly easy and it only weights 3.75 pounds. Also, the pole design is very cool and provides a really good structure but it isn't as freestanding. It would require staking out to get the full amount of usable space. I wanted so badly to keep this tent and take it into the mountains but I just couldn't.
Unfortunately, as the few reviews out there had previously said, this tent is unbelievably thin. And they are correct. After stuffing it back in the bag I was afraid of tearing the tent or the bag. With gloves on in winter conditions this would be near impossible for me. And the floor is also just as thin. A footprint or groundcloth is a requirement, not an option in my opinion. With the footprint this tent is in the 4+ pound range and defeats the purpose of it being so lightweight.
Another thing to note, when I disassembled the tent, it was a real chore to get all the air out. This is concerning to me that the ten

Wow, this tent is such a great tent. Lightweight and packs down small.
I cannot see why people think this tent is not a great tent. It does almost everything.
My only two complaints are that it is not seam sealed from the factory and it is not very long. The length was a huge problem for me because I am so tall (6'3"). In my winter sleeping bag I had to sleep diagonally meaning no second person will be able to join me if needed. If I sleep lengthwise I am sleeping with my head on one wall and my feet out the door. It just didn't work. As for the seam sealing, it comes with seam sealer so you can do it yourself. More of an inconvenience than a negative.
This tent still gets 5 stars. It's not BD's fault I am tall.

I get warm quickly (and sweat even faster) when I am moving and I need a jacket that breaths. However, I do cool down pretty quick so I need a jacket that keeps me warm when I am not on the go but breaths so I don't stay wet when I do sweat. This jacket has the versatility that an outdoor athlete needs. I wear it when I am working hard and when I am just relaxing. It works in a huge range of temperatures and conditions. The only thing that this jacket doesn't do well is cut the wind. The wind blows right through this jacket. But that is easily solved by putting on a wind blocking layer which come in all sorts of options.
Bottom line, this jacket is exactly what Patagonia says it is. It is a great jacket to put on in the morning and wear all day long. It is one of the most comfortable jackets I own. And, an added bonus, I get a million compliments on this jacket. Everyone envies the look and the feel of it.

I bought these pants after I started to see them everywhere and after reading several amazing reviews. After purchasing them, I started reading even more reviews and I came across some very negative reviews saying that the waist is too high, that they didn't work in warm weather, and that they weren't rugged enough.
Once I received the pants I wore them around my house for about a week without taking the tags off. Then it hit me... these pants are amazing.
They do sit a little higher on the waist but remember where you would be wearing these pants, they are higher waisted because it works better to keep your base layers and undershirts tucked in (read less likely to get drafts blowing in). Marmot thought everything out designing these pants. They won't be great in 90 degree weather but most pants are the same way. And lastly, rugged? I own several pairs of rugged hiking pants by various manufacturers. The Scree pants won't win in a fight against a pair of scissors like some pants but in the balance between weight and ruggedness, these pants have the right balance, especially for the weight.
These pants are incredible. I wear them around the house, to the gym, to the grocery store, and on the trail/mountain. They won't be worn to the office but that is about the only place I won't wear them.

Nothing compares to this filter, NOTHING! It is the best out there. I meet hikers all the time that, after a long day on the trail (for me I aim for 15-18 miles a day), get to camp, exhausted and out of water, and they have to pump their water, treat it and wait for the minimum time to pass, or boil it and wait for it to cool. Me, I am sitting and relaxing waiting for gravity to do the work for me. I am relaxing with clean water while they are working or waiting. I get comments all the time about how jealous they are of this filter.
This thing is also fast, like really fast. They are not joking when they say 1-1.5 L/min. In 15 minutes I have filtered water ready to cook dinner with, water for the next day's trip (around 3-5 L), and a few of liters to hydrate that night and cooking breakfast. The whole time the only thing I had to do was get up and refill the reservoir, cook dinner, and relax. I would recommend getting a few thin and light Nalgene or Platypus bottles that compress down when not in use. They don't add a lot of weight and it makes camp so much more convenient; it works great to have a stash of water when you are at camp. I have two 1 L, one 2 L, and one 3 L soft bottles and one 1.5 L hard Nalgene (I don't always take all of them).
The only thing I will caution about with this filter is to make sure and read the directions. I reread them before each long hike to make sure I remember to care for the filter. The most important thing is to back-flush the filte

I really like this pack, it is exactly what I had hoped it would be. It works exactly as it is intended and it is well constructed.
It does take some getting used to. I found that it is a little on the bulky side and if it is not positioned right on the waist it was making it difficult to breathe while running. Once I positioned it lower on my waist it fit fine and didn't move about as much. The other thing, which is only hinted at in other reviews, is that the water bottle will fall out if you have drank half or more of the water (I had to backtrack two miles to find in on the first run). I found that if you re-inflate the bottle with air after drinking it maintains enough rigidity to stay in place. However, this defeats the purpose of having a flexible bottle because now the water sloshes about. With 500 mL capacity though it is doesn't make a noticeable difference.
