My usual shoes for sport are 5.10 arrowhead. Still have some Anasazi verde for trad. Tried these as my next trad all day shoe. As soon as I tried them on, I could tell the rubber section across the top of the toe area would dig into my foot if smearing on less than vertical sections. Maybe they would break in over time, but I didn't feel like dealing with it. Sent them back. They seem to work great for others, but not for me.
Wanted some high-tops to protect ankles in wider cracks, and all day comfort. I'm regular size 12 in 5.10 shoes, and had size 12 in one pair of evolve I've owned.
I had to size up to 13.5 to get the fit I wanted. I prefer 5.10 rubber, but didn't want the Velcro they put on their anasazi hi-top. I think that basically left me with TC pros or these, for high top. These seem to jam good, have a thicker sole, and will provide all day support. I was just surprised I had to go up so far in the sizing. That's my experience for what it's worth.
These are great approach shoes. Rubber is super sticky. They edge good for approach shoes. I also have the camp 4 shoes. Both have great grip. These are better for actual climbing. Camp 4 is more stable and would be more comfortable for covering a lot of mileage with a heavy pack.
