Most Helpful Positive Review Simplicity...
The Helle Viking is very simple in style (historical information is available on it extensively online). I found mine to be very sharp, well made though the grind on the blade was a little off. I like simple, natural knives and this was just perfect for me.
Most Helpful Negative Review Very Disappointed by this Produt
I just received my Helle Viking Knife. I was very excited to purchase this item, since I appreciate simplicity of design. I am very disappointed by the quality of this product. The overall build quality is very poor. The steel is soft and the blade is too thick to be practical for most purposes. The...

It's a pretty nice knife

by Good knife, from WY, United States Written on March 25, 2020
I've only had it out once so far, but it feels like a sold knife for general purpose camp use. I wouldn't use it to baton wood though. The only thing I really didn't like was the black coating on the blade. It easily runs off on everything. But a few minutes with a scotch bright pad and some mineral oil had the excess cleaned off and still left a nice patina on the blade.
Pros:
  • Feels good in the hand, sharp, durable.
Cons:
  • Blade coating
Best Used for:
  • General purpose

A Beautiful, Functional Replica

by MKCBrown93, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on October 14, 2017
Based on a Viking utility knife found in an archaeological dig, this knife truly looks and feels like I am holding history in my hands... the handle is exceptionally comfortable, even in its simplicity. The balance of the Viking is well-placed, just at the front of the handle, near the blade's beginning. The blade comes razor-sharp from the factory and holds its edge exceptionally well, and the fit and finish is impeccable. While the blade is wider than I am used to with my Morakniv, the Helle Viking carves exceptionally well when crafting around camp. My only issue with the Helle Viking is that it is so beautiful with its rustic, course sides (they left the sides unpolished after heat treating on purpose), that I am hesitant to use it as my go-to crafting/camping knife, because I would like to preserve its historic aesthetic, and I have noticed that carving with it has smoothed the sides of the blade somewhat. In other words, the only complaint I have is one of my own inner conflict.
All of this, and it comes with a beautiful, high quality, tanned leather sheath... you can feel and smell the quality of the leather...
Overall, this is a wonderful knife!

Helle - Traditional

by David T., Written on March 1, 2017
I am Norwegian in descent and have collected “old” style Viking knives for some time. This will be a great addition to my collection. Excellent quality that matches the others in my collection. Quite sharp although not as sharp as some that I have in stash. My hobby is sharpening but i don’t mess with the collectible knives. Great product that I am very happy to own.

Different in a very cool kind of way

by Camping Jack, from AR, United States Written on September 10, 2013
I really like the design of the knife. It was based on examples of Viking knives which is cool since they lived bushcraft before it became a fad. The wood handle has a nice linseed oil smell just like my Scandinavian axes handles. The knife comes with a sharp scandi grind and a pleasing pukko style leather sheath. The steel isn't hard enough to strike a fire steel which is okay with me because
