Spider Gas Stove by Kovea
This filled a gap in my winter kit. I wanted something that could run safely on an inverted canister and this does so flawlessly.
Additionally, it is relatively lightweight, fits in my MSR Titan Kettle with a small fuel cannister, and thus far has proven to be dependable and robust on the trail. Li...

Stove sputters
I bought this stove over some other models solely because it had a pre-heat tube to allow it to be inverted in colder conditions. Sadly when I invert the canister it sputters just like the much cheaper option I could have purchased. For that reason alone I am relativity unhappy. Everything else abou...

Best all around stove
I've had and used many backpacking stoves. As a canister stove, this is very lightweight, stable with even larger pots, and easy to use, allowing one to simmer: it's not for just boilling water. Also, it's easy to set up, and because the canister is set apart from the burner, one may use a wind shield without fear of blowing up the stove. Lastly, one can invert the canister in cold weather.
Pros:
- Lightweight
Cons:
- Seems that it needs protection when packed in backpack.
Best Used for:
- backpacking or any outdoor activities
- Backpacking or camping in general

Great Little Stove!
I had a chance to use this stove for the first time recently on a 3 night,4 day trip through the Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida. It worked flawlessly, always lighting on the first try. To me it is the perfect compromise between being small and light, yet sturdy. If you are cooking meals for say 2,or maybe 3 people it is ideal, and I am very happy with it. Joe in Florida.

Great stove.
Low,wide and stable. If you like cooking food, and not just boiling water, this stove is the one. You can also tightly wrap a wind screen around it without a worry about over heating the canister which means water boils faster and less fuel is used. 5 star.

Great Stove
This stove works great, will be a nice addition to our late fall backpacking now that I can use a windscreen with the stove in colder weather. Stove shipment was received several days before I expected it, Thanks Campsaver. Marty

Kovea spider stove
I'm very happy with my spider stove. I really like the remote attachment to the canister, and the valve has a very precise flow to allow for low simmer with a windscreen. Works well for actually cooking and dry baking on the trail. The quality of this stove is excellent.

Buy it
Was told about this stove from a blog review. Respected the person doing the review, so I pulled the plug and bought one. Best decision on backpacking gear I have made in a long time. Does everything you need it to, and at much lower temps than other stoves work at. Have used it at ten degrees with no issues. Can't go wrong with this stove.

A lightweight, packable, and dependable stove suitable for four-season use
Pros:
Light (6 oz)
Packs small in sturdy stuff sack
Allows for canister inversion for cold weather performance
Included piezoelectric lighter
Powerful
Big Bang for the Buck
Cons:
None to date
Kudos to CampSaver for stepping up and making this awesome stove available to U.S. consumers as there are currently only three outlets offering the Spider.
I've only used it about 30 times but that's enough to form an opinion outside of the long term durability.
This is an awesome stove. Light, compact, excellent workmanship and powerful. And because it's a remote canister stove it provides the option of inverting the canister in cold weather and/or elevation to burn liquid instead of gas. At the time of this writing we're not yet in Winter but I did have it out at 8.5K in 25 degrees and snow and it performed very well. There was a bit of sputtering (not an issue when burning gas) but it didn't seem to hinder the performance.
Note: If you do want to invert the canister you'll need to let it heat up for about 30 seconds first.
There aren't a ton of reviews out there on this stove yet but all I've read have mirrored my thoughts. A high-quality performer at a very reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Spider to anyone who wants dependable, four-season use.
If you want to see it in action I made a (crappy) video review. At least you'll see it on the gas at 8,000 feet.

Delivers The Hot Goods
If you're checking out this stove you probably know that currently, (I believe) there are only three spots to buy it in the U.S. On eBaby, an independent retailer and through CampSaver. Kudos to CampSaver for offering this awesome stove.
I can't speak to the long term durability of the Spider, as I've only had it for a short while, but nothing in the construction makes me believe it won't last a long time. I also haven't had it out in super cold conditions yet but at 30 degrees and 8K it performed like a champ. Flipping over the canister as a test made it clear this is a true year round stove.
I like the lower base for the stability and both it's weight and size when closed. It's sturdy, light and drives a mean flame. Nothing not to like.
I would suggest a windscreen but that's a quick and easy DIY project that will only cost a few bucks. From what I've read, Kovea has their act together with their products so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend pulling the trigger on this one.
