Most Helpful Positive Review Works for me and my dog!
I've been lugging around a much heavier two-person tent for years and was looking for an ultra-light one that could accommodate my 50 pound dog and me. I am 5'8 and 115 pounds, so on the tall but thinner side. It was a risk in ordering a one-person tent, but this one actually worked out! I sleep with my head at the narrower end of the tent so that she has more room at my feet. I have to reach down to use the pocket, but that's not a big deal. With my pack and boots in the vestibule, we're quite comfortable, though neither of us tends to spread out when we sleep. I won't claim that it's spaciou...

Really cool piece of gear

by Renegade, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on July 31, 2023
After years of tarping, I saw one of these on the trail and decided to give it a go. Took it on an AT thru-hike and it didn't let me down at all. I broke down the constituent parts - poles, stakes, inner and outer - rather than use the supplied stuff sack, just so it fit better. Easy enough to set up, although you gotta be delicate with the poles as they could easily be damaged if you stood on them. I liked the inner pockets and the fly stakes out far enough to get your gear under cover too. I chose this specifically because you can sit up in it, which a lot of other UL tents don't allow. So it has a high, long, narrow footprint. If you get the wind wrong, once it's assembled, it's light and self-assembly strong enough to just pick it up and walk to a better spot. Waterproofing was good enough for the Smokies in November, no worries there. Dries out quickly too. Only thing I did do was buy the additional footprint for protection as the bathtub could get damaged on spiky or rough ground. Great purchase for the price.

Marmot UL 1p tent

by canyonexplorer, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on June 30, 2020
Have used the Marmot eos 1p tent for years...this one adds a little height and width for head room, a little lighter weight (= less durable?). Like the green blend-in color. Ready to try it out! Has holder for light at top. Wish it included the footprint at this price!
Pros:
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • No footprint
Best Used for:
  • 1 person backpacking

Marmot Tungsten UL Tent - 1 Person, 3 Season

by Bruce 2Keys, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on May 27, 2020
This is a great tent ! Other manufacturers make great tents as well, but the style and colors of this tent makes it stand out over others. The simplicity of it's design and ease of set up is a good reason for purchasing this tent. The two pole configuration ( X- design ) with "Easy Pitch" clips keep to the basic tradition of free standing tents, not like other tents that may use just one pole or one pole split to form a ' Y' configuration which makes for a more complicated set up. Plenty of room for one person with ample head space for sitting up and a vestibule to store a backpack or other gear. Though it is free standing, it does need to be staked down and guy lined out to withstand any breeze and wind. Rain is no problem as the bath tub floor is high enough to keep the wet out and plenty of ventilation to prevent condensation, there is even a small roof vent to add air flow that can be closed if needed. I use this tent for Bikepacking due to it's light weight and easy of set up. The only down fall is that Marmot does not include a floor saver or the option to purchase one. That was no problem as I made one from a piece of Tyvek Material. I'm very happy with my purchase of this tent from Campsaver. If you're in market for a ultralite 1 person tent, do some research with other tents and compare it to the Marmot Tungsten 1P Ultralite. You might see that it's a winner.
Pros:
  • Light weight
  • Easy Set Up
  • Vestibule
  • Free-standing design, roomier sleeping area and greater head room.
  • plenty of ventilation
  • small roof vent
  • Full Rain Fly
Cons:
  • No Floor Saver
Best Used for:
  • Bike packing
  • Solo backpacking
